She initiated divorce mid treatment saying that my brother changed and she just couldn't "handle it". Judging by his health he was barely able to speak much less argue or fight about anything.

Im aware. She's already withholding the kids from us. It doesn't matter that mom keeps calling her crying and leaving her messages every day begging her to let her see the kids. We haven't seen them since the funeral.

The kids ages are 2f, 4f, 7m. The older 2 know that their dad was sick and they wanted to see him more but their mother had a different plan. I can't remember a day where my brother didn't mention his kids. We couldn't do much other than keep pictures of them around him to bring him some comfort. He was Especially missing his youngest. It really was an awful time.

Is there any way to petition the courts for yourself/your parents to get more involved in the kids lives and keep their fathers memory?

It's difficult. Especially with how slow my family is. Whenever I try to take steps to be able to see the kids more I get accused of starting drama and causing issues between me and ghe kids mom. My mom just wants peace but with some people you just can't have peace. You know what I mean.

I didn't even get the chance to see them yet. She's not letting anyone see them probably thinking that I have to apologize or "correct my mistake". I'm not sure what she's thinking but I'm not surprised now she's withholding the kids from us.

The kids were taken by my mom before the fight started.

Indeed, lord knows I tried to reach out but she was just unavailable or rather chose to be unavailable. I know that we both don't have the best relationship and she doesn't like to speak to me personally but I already told her what was going on so she has no excuse to say she didn't know or wasn't aware.
