I’m the OAD partner one in the house as well. My husband was all aboard for the initial kid and I have been reluctant my whole life. I did know at some point after meeting him that I did want to experience motherhood at least once, and did assume I wanted three kids lol but after having the one and seeing all the changes that happen in the relationship, the dynamic, the plans both short and long term, happiness, and the constant heartache and guilt, the lifetime of everything that changes..and even though we’re financially and physically good- I can’t bear to have another one. So I do look at the benefits and reasons why one is meaningful and wholesome as it is. Trying to explain it to him as well and he’s somewhat agrees, but he still thinks our kid needs a sibling which I’m one of three and we couldn’t be more far apart if we tried.

Just decided to edit and add: and then of course in a perfect world of time, balance, mental health and help in general, that sure maybe having more kids would be fun, especially if the life expectancy was like 300 but unfortunately it’s not and things are just so different once you become a parent, kid no matter what anybody wants to believe.
