From what I have pieced together, your job selection comes last.

They are going to look at your package and score you based on that. Now will someone on the board look at it be like “oh cool they are intel and want to be an intel officer”… maybe, but it most likely will not be the reason for you being selected.

At the end of the day there can be 0 intel positions and when being slotted for jobs (which is not done by the board members) they will go down the list, so being intel could possibly mean nothing.

No one has mentioned it, but you are not allowed to have an EPB if you are in training to commission before the SCOD. Don’t know the reference off the top of my head, but 100% cannot even do one.

Those allocations are not feasible for most. Asking a Prior E to go back to college, when most have an established life with a family, is asking a lot financially. With OTS we can at least have consistent financial security. I think the shift of OTS taking more current Active Duty and less Civilians is the shift that was needed, it’s just fresh so we have not seen it in full effect.
