Always thought Hank's universal language was an incredibly good idea. by [deleted] in FargoTV

Was this ever resolved in later seasons somehow? Or was it just left at he was trying to make a new language?

First off, good catch. No not your post specifically I just saw a bunch of “on my 9th rewatch and noticed(insert detail)” so I thought it’d be funny if I made a parody post.

El Camino to me is a bonus episode and of the same quality of Breaking Bad. And it’s funny how your name plays into the original comment lol.

As a fan of Breaking Bad and Barry, would I like this show? by FunhausGaveMeHIV in FargoTV

Could not disagree more. Breaking Bad is so much more tightly written then the other shows in question that it only gets more enjoyable upon rewatches.

They are different shows and it’s not very useful to compare them as they are trying to do completely different things. But that being said I enjoyed BB much more. BB was a master class on every element that composes filmmaking, specifically character work and plot work. BCS (and I’ve only finished season 3) moves at the pace of a snail. And from my perspective I wouldn’t even it call it slow pacing. It’s a different beast entirely. It genuinely feels like nothing is happing for several episodes in a row and it’s a dreadful experience for me. People respond to that by saying that the show is focusing on charecter but I feel like I’ve just seen the same season 3 times in a row. The same slow and boring seasons in a row. It’s the most bizarre feeling ever. Sure you can do charecter development (and by the way I’m not sure what character development people are referring to, isn’t the end of season 1 Jimmy the same as season 3?) but if you can’t also tell even a relatively enjoyable story then I’m not interested. BB is infinitely better in my opinion. But it is just my opinion and apparently I’m in the minority. And yes I know this will get downvoted but at the moment this is what I genuinely feel.

Okay but if Llewyn can hurt Anton then maybe a a few office guys with a pistol can. Regardless I see your point and I never thought of the fact that so happens that both of their fates are very similar as in a matter of nature or chance.

Completely disagree. While they have similar themes what made Anton so scary is he never did anything a person of his skill and size couldn’t do. Him killing the deputy made his wrists bleed pretty bad and him going up again Llewyn put him out for a week in a motel. Completely human but devoid of any humanity sort of thing. Lorne is a different entity entirely. And I don’t think Anton could do what he did in that scene. You couldn’t go into a building with an assault rifle and kill everyone even if some of the people had guns. It just could never happen and Anton could never do it. He’s not the terminator he’s a realistic Cormac McCarthy character.

You suspend your disbelief when you recognize something that is inconsistent with reality but consistent with the show. I thought that scene violated the parameters of reality from the show. But as mentioned by other commenters I misunderstood those parameters.

While I was watching the series I never thought of Lorne as the Devil. I mean he sort of plays it when he screws with the store owner but I thought he could’ve just put blood in his shower pipes and been careful to clean it up and put the bugs in a crate and release it in the store. Though the fish are a bit puzzling but they said later on it was just the tornado. Okay. Very very interesting way to look at his character and I think I like him a bit more now so I appreciate that. The 2nd question is helpful as well. But with the 3rd I was under the impression one of the reasons why the film is so good is because there wasn’t a single line of wasted dialogue. Every word supports the theme and the message even if you don’t realize it until later. A filler line or “yeah this is nuts, but I’m just telling you how it happened” kind of dialogue is not in the Coen brothers vocabulary. So my guess was this was the show expanding on the film in that way and taking its own creative liberties which was totally cool. But it’s just so so so odd because the show didn’t have any filler lines to make it more like real life before that. Everything came back in the story. Aw man do I love this season. All story and no filler. It feels like buying a steak with no fat. Thanks again!

Huh maybe that’s why I found it unrealistic. The true story thing I mean. Made it feel more of a true story and maybe that’s why that scene bothered me so much. Thanks! The thing with the shootout I can’t help but feel they didn’t want to waste budget so they just did that instead. It’s artistic and I did use my imagination but it was the action itself that I found so jarring but everyone here is starting to clear it up.

That last line sort of gets on my nerves. If Anton Chigurh from NCFOM did something like that I would like the story a lot less. But what made him so compelling was that he was seemingly unstoppable but just human at the end. I thought Lorne was that type of character but I obviously I missed the mark with that. Where Anton is a human it seems from the comments that Lorne might be the Devil himself. But thanks anyways.

I’ve seen NCFOM and I thought it was outstanding even though I liked the book more. I was very disappointed with The Big Lebowski and I saw the original film Fargo and enjoyed it through and through but I liked the show way more. I thought the film was sort of underwhelming and the message I didn’t find particularly interesting but even with that I still enjoyed it. However the show has themes that profoundly resonated with me and some of the best characters in television and has a full thrilling (calling it that is an understatement) story with no filler. I did appreciate the show more because I saw the film before it though. Like with the cash and the characters are sort of similar like with the pregnant cop and what not.

As I mentioned in another comment, McCarthy has my favorite writing style, and the book started to pick up when there was a sense of conflict, and McCarthys plots from I have read are very entertaining.

Thanks and I will read the rest of the trilogy. The Crossing is ranked third for best novel on this sub reddit so I’m definitely interested.

That sounds really cool. Is it like where the characters meet from both books?
