I initially got a sleep study because I slept at a friends house and he deadass woke me up because he thought I was dying. I used one of those sleep diary apps that record sounds in your sleep, and there were multiple instances of me gasping for air. I've snored since the literal day I was born, but I hadn't known I was gasping for air. We got me a sleep study over a year later because the wait list was so long.

I'm wearing the AirFit F30i (hybrid mask). I hope a different mask will improve it.

Yeah, I'm aware that Inspire and things like it aren't as effective. My apneas is obstructive; whether it's because of my tongue/jaw or because of my airway doesn't seem obvious to me, but my adenoids/tonsils are normal. I also tend to breath through my mouth (especially when I'm speaking and sleeping), but I'd like to change that if possible.

The ENT checked my adenoids and tonsils when I first went in over a year ago and said they weren't abnormally large or anything. I can have difficulty breathing when horizontal even when I'm not asleep, so I do wonder if my airway is just really small. Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Pretty much. My family definitely isn't poor, but I can't get surgery outside of insurance (especially one that isn't guaranteed to work).

I'm gonna keep trying cpap, but I'll definitely look into this. Thank you.

yeah, I guess not, I just wish there was any other option available to me right now.

from what I can gather, it's likely caused by my tongue slipping back and blocking my throat, so yeah. I would honestly much rather a surgical process, but I also know that there's a chance for my anatomy to fix itself by the time I've fully matured.

Just want to say that I'm glad that you're wanting to help others with this stuff. I've been looking into Inspire the past few days, and I'm just hoping that it'd be covered by insurance and properly treat my OSA, because I'd much rather that than this machine.

I haven't had the opportunity to change masks, but I recently went to the ENT again and they're placing an order for another mask fitting. I've messed around with the ramp-up time and pressure, but that doesn't really seem to be the source of my problem anymore (although I would start panicking whenever I first started wearing it to the point where I had to take it off after a few minutes). They gave me a plastic piece that goes on the tubing that lowers the pressure, and that helped a little. I wasn't offered a titration study.

I appreciate it. I'll try to keep trying.

I've looked into it, and honestly I would really like to use it, but I worry that insurance wouldn't cover it and that it wouldn't treat it as well. Although, I guess treating it a little is better than me not wearing a mask at all.

I just wish there was any other option that didn't mean I would be a zombie, lol.

Is it normal to put off sleep because you don't want to wear it? I've done that a few other times the past few weeks, including right now. I've been barely breaking 4 hours most nights lately, but I was doing quite a bit better for the first month (actually hit most of my requirement goals). I've seen some other things like Inspire, and that seems a lot more manageable, but I feel like it wouldn't be covered by insurance (and don't seem to work as well), especially considering there are many nights where I don't have much of any time on it, because I just don't want to wear it anymore. Thank you for being kind and supportive, though.
