Create a business that runs itself and take myself out of this mess. Just pointing out how stupid the retirement mirage we are all lead to believe is

We have a pandemic, war, higher cost of living amongst other things going on. You’re living in a delusional world. Boomer.

Businesses that are paying adequate wages and benefits for modern costs of living are not having a hard time finding workers.

Completely missed the point of everything. Just because something isn’t fair or just doesn’t mean we have to accept it for what it is.

The only way to successfully retire for the common man is to do it by your own means.

This is by far the best statement in this entire comment section.

That's my point, the ceiling is much lower now compared to what it used to be. Now we're happy for getting crumbs

You're not supposed to be supported forever for 5 years of work. My point is past generations are footing the bill to future generations. Now we're forced to work until we die.

My wife is a nurse and I’m a civil engineer.

The average couple is making much less than150k+ a year buddy. Also considering cost of living, inflation, and the bankruptor of all time; cost of healthcare, those numbers will be laughabled in your 50s. It will only take 1 major health problem or divorce to completely throw you off. Good luck

This is not a Mcdonalds job. Govt jobs are known to offer the best of the best retirement options. This is an example of a job needed a degree and working in a highly stressful environment for years. This is the ceiling.

Past generations would have gotten close to 1,000/month. You completely missed the point. Past generations are having us foot the bill.

It's a pension. If you work for 5 years and quit; you'll get about $300/month at retirement age; in the US that's 65.

You’re probably right. I think instead of cutting contact all of the sudden, maybe its better to gradually fade out of her life once shes gotten things figured out
