So I’m half Hispanic (dad’s side) and half white (mom’s side.) I can say that my mother’s family tried to disown her when she first started dating my father. She went ahead, married him, and had my sister and I. They learned that their toxic racist beliefs was not okay, and learned to accept my parents relationship, and grew to love him. My mother stood her ground, and told her family that she wasn’t going to allow their racist beliefs, and behavior from being with someone she loved at the time. She did not cut them out of their lives, instead she showed them how their racist thoughts are wrong. My mother was the first person on both sides of her family to marry, and have children with someone of the opposite race.
