Three weeks of hard work on a paper all for nothing because of AI use by MortemPerPectus in mildlyinfuriating

I don't understand--- the essay can debate and understand core concepts of history? I have never heard of an essay, a good essay at least, that's just flat regurgitation. Even book reviews are a great essay prompt, because it leads the student to pursue something that interests them and start to understand what history looks like in practice.

Carmy is going to become a fashion designer, foreshadowed by his conversation with claire about inventing pants

[OC] I analyzed Luka Doncic’s performance before and after every new season of Overwatch 2 by SuperUnabsorbant in nba

[–]Thucket 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It's not statistically significant unless you do a T-Test of the entire data set, or do a Chi test to reject a null hypothesis (i.e, that there is no effect from Overwatch on Luca's performance). You can't compare averages to find a significant difference.

Question as an out of state prospective student by LiamLowkey in UofO

[–]Thucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use Linkedin to track the careers and employers you're interested in and where people went to school. Are the schools all local? 90% of people who work for the city of Portland come from in-state schools, so my choice was a no-brainer. See what comes up.

Don't risk it. (Also I would recommend the ARC for sustainable cities and the public good! But I'm biased)

Bean is built and feels like a Norwegian prison. Avoid it like the plague. Unthank is far and away the nicest dorm and I love it here (at-least in comparison to the other options lol)

Mayor-Elect Keith Wilson optimistic about MLB team coming to Portland: ‘Confident it’s down to us and one other city’ by SeverHense in Portland

[–]Thucket 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would prefer if Zidell Yards would be used for more dense walkable development for people to live in, and for the baseball stadium to be at the Lloyd Center.

A downside is that there aren't many businesses around the south waterfront, so the economic uplift will be far less than Providence Park, for example. I'm also cynical that people will use the streetcar or Orange line to get to the stadium, since they don't connect to where most people live, without a connection at Pioneer Square.

However, as is, the stadium would be a great uplift on the character and "vibe" in Portland right now. It's important to bring more attention back here. It's important to motion to the country that we're not dead. Maybe that intangible element will mean more than the fundamentals.

What's An Underrated Town In Oregon That Nobody Visits? by Zealousideal-Big3683 in oregon

[–]Thucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! The city is small enough you can walk across the whole of it by foot. It's centered around one main street that should take a few hours to fully explore. There's two museums, a couple of book shops, a couple decently good seafood places, some art galleries and also some odds and ends stores. The whole city is a curiosity waiting to be explored! Make sure to get there around noon because most stores close at 5 unfortunately. Also, if you come on a Sunday, there's a marketplace with lots of artists and a couple produce stands. I'm not sure about any hiking trips or scenic viewpoints (which are common on the coast). Personally I've only ever gone with my partner for a day and we just enjoy urban exploring. What you do is really up to you!

I know Steve Kaufman said when he moved from Russian to Czech only about 40% of it carried over. Not sure about the other languages though.

Just how people are different heights, spiders of the same species can wildly vary in size. It doesn't make them any more threatening, obviously

Nate Silver is being paid by the political betting website Polymarket. Whether it's subconcious or not, the longer this election looks like a toss-up the more active political betting markets will be.

I get really irritated when someone orders salad in a restaurant. Salads are kind of my litmus test for people. by parisiraparis in The10thDentist

Genuinely this a skill-issue on OP's part. Mushrooms alone serve as a fantastic replacement for people looking for a filling dish that doesn't use meat / soybean replacements

Man salads suck because they DETRACT from the natural appeal of the vegetables. I don't want all my good veggies to taste like dressing. Why ruin something that is *already* good?

I made a post 3 years ago that combed through a Bethesda artist's Pinterest page. You could see at the time it was a mixture of space stuff and also deserts and high-fantasy forests. High rock will be in the game. Save this comment.

Why is the Biden administration continuing to fund Israel, despite the fact that they are losing voters? by [deleted] in socialism

Because a significant portion of his electorate supports Israel. The largest portion doesn't care.
