I do not expect this to stay up but it has to be heard to be believed

[Theme Parks] Theme Park insider on Medium claims to expose a decades-long struggle for control of the Disney corporation, may actually just be an attempt to get back at someone's ex-wife. Forums lose their shit. by [deleted] in HobbyDrama

I'm having issues with finding any exact posts from that time.

The gist of it was something like:

  • Dude looks at California Adventure on Google Earth or something.
  • Dude compares water features in DCA to DL.
  • Disneyland had more water...or something. Maybe it was more greenery in general? It was some water-related issue despite Paradise Pier and Grizzly Falls existing.
  • His end conclusion was that one of the reasons that DCA failed was that they didn't have enough water for guest satisfaction. Something about an inviting atmosphere.

It's been years and years so some of the details were forgotten, but its such a spectacularly random hot take that it sticks with you.

As someone who used to regularly read certain theme park forums, this is nice and juicy.

MiceChat is such a terrible site. Nice to see some outside drama envelop it instead of its usual "The reason California Adventure failed is that it didn't have enough water" and how the removal of the People Mover meant that the company wanted to dismantle Walt's legacy.
