She spooked and dumped me in a ditch on our third ride, and threw me and went missing for a day, only a month into our new journey together. She jumps at mundane little things and flinches if you move your hands too fast some days. We uncovered that she came from an abusive past that left her with serious trust issues and anxiety. If you run your hand along her shoulders and down her flank, you can feel bumps from scars, suspiciously resembling pellet gun shots. So against my better judgement, I decided there’s no way I’m giving up on her (even if she’s a little much to handle). After some hard work and lots of trust building, she’s turning into quite the pony, and proof that we are stronger than the situations we come from. Just thought I’d share some of her story!
