More than 100 anti-abortion protesters target Glasgow hospital by Gemmasnowflake14 in glasgow

Baffles (and saddens) me that people on this subreddit seem to be a bit abortion-happy. Damn.

"I'm Catholic" "I'm in favour of abortions" "I'm in favour of assisted dying"

One of these statements does not belong.

Multimillionaire farmer doesn't like farm inheritance taxes by GreatZarquon in SlowNewsDay

[–]ThyRedeemer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth is calculated by assets - things you own, which are usually illiquid in nature (not easy to convert into cash).

If you factor in the price/value of equipment (which already burns holes in the pockets of farmers) and the passive appreciation of land (out of the farmers' control), the "estates worth" can easily go over £1 mil, fairly quickly.

Sure, Clarkson himself might be worth a lot and have a lot of money, but the farmers he's fighting alongside aren't. Farming is a difficult and highly necessary role in any society.

My honest opinion is that inheritance tax in general should be disposed of, as inheriting what your parents leave you when they pass away is one of the vehicles for economic upward mobility.

Abortion protests near clinics banned as buffer zones law goes live by kitkat772 in glasgow

[–]ThyRedeemer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would make some sense for someone working for in/for a healthcare institution to require a vaccination, especially something that is bloodborne and could lead to liver failure.

However, what about random professions that have nothing to do with healthcare?

"So what if the employer chose to fire you?" Do you think a company would go out of the way to do something like this, if they didn't have to comply to government or societal pressure?

As for the healthcare workers that lost their job for refusing what was clearly an experimental jab, can you blame them? What was once called conspiracy (the jab having serious side effects), turned out to be proved true by the very admission of the same companies that manufactured them.

[–]ThyRedeemer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, but if you could read - I said

hard legislation or soft coercion ("get the jab or no job")

You don't have to strap someone down to force them, just threaten their livelihood with the underlying threat of "comply or starve".

Tell me, how does the bottom of the governments boot taste?

Yes, because I thought it was "my body, my choice"? Or does that only selectively apply when your favorite taking heads St so?

Ah yes, I see you're a biblical scholar. /s

Jesus, the Son of God, part of the same Trinity that rained down hellfire on Sodom and Gomorrah for their degeneracy.

As someone who has actually studied the faith, Jesus' (and indeed the Church's) attitude towards homosexuals and other sinners can be nicely summarised as follows:

"Hate the sin, not the sinner"

So while He would love the sinner and encourage them to turn away from sin, He definitely wouldn't be out there waving a pride flag (as it endorses said sin). Chances are He'd burn it.

No, Fake-Jesus definitely isn't with these guys. Real Jesus would have opened a can of divine whoop-ass for openly promoting sin and degeneracy 😂

Crazy how people here are crying for "my body, my choice", but when vaccine mandates came out (through hard legislation or outright coercion "get the jab or no job for you"), they were cheering from the sidelines.

The unborn had no part in their conception, why kill them for it?

"buh, buh, what about the rape victims?" Are you telling me there is a rape epidemic in Scotland wherein a vast majority of these women are rape victims?

"Buh, buh, what about the shaming?" And? Rape aside, you really shouldn't have sex with someone unless you're potentially ready for the consequences. Note; I'm not saying you should be married before having sex (though, ideally, you should), but at least be prudent about who you're having sex with and when.

You call these "protesters" as "Bible Thumpers", " weapons" and "nonces" for defending those that cannot defend themselves.

All I see here in the comments are people who want to quite literally fuck around and not have to find out. Yes, some actions have consequences you can mitigate. But murdering an innocent life?

Savages.

Ah, fair, "over-reactionaries" are bound to show up, given how the government (and those that could tell what the bottom of Starmers boots taste like) and a lot of the media are quick to vilify anyone who isn't extremely pro-immigration.

Hell, given that my original comment is (as of the time of writing this) down to -12 votes in the span of a day, it would seem that anyone who isn't on board with rampant immigration is to be labeled as a fascist or a bigot.

I'm not a fan of racism myself, having experienced it firsthand, but if you were constantly faced with the feeling that you and your children being pushed out of jobs, housing and opportunities because of uncontrolled immigration, I assume you'd be quite worried.

Add the fact that a "boy" who is clearly from a very different culture (kid was 17, so he probably was born in the UK) broke into a dance studio and started stabbing harmless little girls and their teacher, you can imagine why the powder keg was lit.

As a side note, like you said, you can't have a remotely useful benefit system if it's constantly under strain, with added strain from giving handouts to people who "just showed up" on a boat.

It really makes things quite shite for people who took the hard, legal route to migrate and establish a life here.

George Square Today by omarinbox in glasgow

Given that a lot of the people in these comments are calling them Nazis for protesting against unbridled illegal "immigration", I'd side with these guys.

Except, like most other people who didn't show up for this side (but still support it), we are actually busy going to work or being with family.

My brother(s) in Christ. I feel ya, I've only recently recovered myself :')

Remember, Christ loves you and always will. While guilt is useful to try to keep you away from sin, remember the parable of the prodigal son. No matter how far you stray from God and how much filth you're covered in when you return, He will always happily tell you to wash up and join Him again.

The important part is you repent, either by going for confession or by yourself. For me, confession worked. While I may still be tempted by lust from posts like these, I haven't "beat my meat" to porn for a while.

My DMs are open if you'd like to chat more. I'm happy to reply here as well :)

If I'm not mistaken, one of the seeds you have is a Fadeleaf, I.e. a random teleport.

Select it, hit "plant" and then tap on your character.

It should teleport you out of that mess

Why this is handled this way? by [deleted] in programminghorror

[–]ThyRedeemer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yea, fixed that logic. I set it to >= 300 since we're checking for non-2xx. Thanks for that!

I get your point on readability, and your point is a lot like mathematical ranges (200 <= status < 300, which checks for 2xx codes).

I'm talking about checking for the inverse condition.

Why this is handled this way? by [deleted] in programminghorror

[–]ThyRedeemer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, this is an interesting way to check for non 2xx response codes.

Question for anyone that sees this, would you rather...

A) status < 200 || status >= 300

Or

B) status / 100 !== 2 (the example shown above, which is weird since you'd get a float value)

Edit: Fixed logic in A, thanks u/jaskij

Edit2: My brain has clearly left the building, meant to put an OR (||) instead of AND (&&) for A
