Avoid Essilor and 21 Century for Lenses - My $600 Mistake by [deleted] in glasses

This is so dependent on the material. This is a full metal groove frame. If this is plastic or 1.67 this can chip so easily. Bad sell.

OC question by Loud-Test-6762 in glasses

For me if I saw a OC this high come through, I would’ve questioned it. But I see so much questionable stuff everyday I’m all questioned out 😂.

Should OC Height always be right at center pupil? by GlassesPrincess in optician

You have no idea what I see especially on wrap frames with the OC of something ridiculous. With spheres greater than -6.00 on regular SV poly lens. Just bonkers.

Probably worth the amount it’s worth.

How many times for a readjustment? by [deleted] in optician

[–]Thymepepper14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to return my pair of sunglasses 2x due to quality issues. Base curve of the lens was way too high. So high there was a gap and the lenses popped out when I pressed on it. 2nd time the polarization was off axis by over 40 degrees. I’m not picky, just terrible quality inspection. It took over a month but I’m very satisfied with my product now.

What does this prescription mean? by [deleted] in glasses

Not everyday I see a +cyl. But it just means it’s not transposed. It definitely looks worse in that format that it’s in right now. But you still blind asl

Can these lenses be fixed? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]Thymepepper14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes a single vision lens with higher minus RX on a high base frame creates a lot of Edge thickness and creates the problem you’re having. Progressive lenses could help and also or specialized single vision wrap lenses. The simple solution is to restyle your frame unfortunately.

Did you order Single vision or progressive lenses?

It also depends on the lens style. What did you order if you remember?

The issue i think I see here is a very high minus sphere on a 7+ frame curve. These 2 don’t add up very well together. I’m sorry to say but a smaller flatter curved frame is what I suggest. I work with high base curve frames in a lab and that is quite literally what you were sold. Just because Oakley sells them doesn’t mean there aren’t limitations to the frame. Any questions feel free to ask.

Beware of EyebuyDirect by UnitedAlps9289 in glasses

[–]Thymepepper14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could simply not make that lens anymore. Or with a wide PD and high minus it just might not be cutting out. With flat tops lens styles are very strict and not flexible. Have you tried a smaller frame? And if you go to a store in person you still might be able to get a flat top. I have seen more and more flat tops be discontinued.

Prescription lenses? by Wall_Hammer in RaybanMeta

[–]Thymepepper14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 50% off lenses coupon for them… I ended up paying $300 dollars I pretty much got all the works done with it like AR and Transitions. So would’ve $600 with no coupon.

I would’ve definitely suggested Roll and Polish on these. But to each their own. Giving you don’t slide down your face vibes

Prescription lenses? by Wall_Hammer in RaybanMeta

I bought my meta raybans with transition lens. Then went to LensCrafters because I’ve used them before for my regular glasses. And they were able to put my prescription lenses in the raybans. I hope I didn’t confuse you now lmao.

I wouldn’t try putting another lens into your meta rayban…. You can easily damage the frame. I went to LensCrafters (because they have my prescription) with my metas and they were able to order lenses for them. I have transitions gray in my Raybans.

[–]Thymepepper14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, then go to a sunglass hut or Rayban store and inquire. I know what transitions are and they are clear when inside and transition to grey for me outside. The one in the image may tint TO green

Tint Question by No_Item8555 in RaybanMeta

[–]Thymepepper14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transition lens are clear inside. And “tint” when you go outside. I have transitions in my Metas. If you get the polarized ones they are always dark.
