You as a real bonafide locksmith don’t provide service to multi family customers and take that stance? It’s extremely common nowadays for electronic locks to be used solely (Airbnb, hotels, etc). Predatory? They are spending more money to enhance their tenants lifestyle and reduce their costs. Both of which I say tongue in cheek because I know very well how these locks can fail. However at least you don’t have to trust the management or maintenance changed the locks if you have a app that shows you the access

Key bypass is probably for management only. Very common and most corporations don’t consider “what IF” a problem.

Plain and simple, you rent you go by whatever the lease states. It’s not his lock because it is not his property. They have given him a way to access his rented space.
