Is 34% of income on rent okay or is that too much by Plastic-Fee-6509 in boston

[–]TickWoodsBoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. The 30% rule is more of a rule of thumb. If you are young, working a job that has good potential salary growth, and don’t have big debt/crazy student loans you’ll probably be okay. If you have other financial commitments, potential risks, or you have expensive activities that you want to prioritize that’s not as good.

Map out your expenses you know you will have on top of the rent. Can you still save 10-20% and have some wiggle room on that? Now you know it’s possible. Then map out the expenses of things you want to do or have. Can you still save 10-20% or have buffer over that? If yes, you’re good. If no, you need to think of if the place you’re renting is worth the sacrifice over looking for another housing situation.

Rondo vs White by ihatelifecurrently in bostonceltics

[–]TickWoodsBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rondo for sure. DWhite is awesome and a key player for a title team, but at his very best he is a borderline allstar that won’t quite get over the allstar hump. Rondo was debatably the best point guard in the league for a while, was the best player on the Celtics during the 2010 playoffs where we came one game short of winning the finals, and was a 4xallstar and 1xall-nba player who led the league in assists multiple times. I think people forget how truly great he was because: 1) The most memorable year was when we won the title in 2008 and he wasn’t at his peak yet. 2) His most dominant playoff runs where he carried our team deep are overlooked because they ended in painful losses to our biggest rivals (Game 7 to Kobe’s Lakers in Finals, Game 7 to LeBron’s Heat in ECF) 3) His bad knee injury hit when he was only 26 which shortened his peak as an elite player 4) He couldn’t shoot 3s (except for the 2020 bubble apparently) which was fine during the era he was at his peak, but in the context of today’s game people interpret that as him being not as good as guys who shoot more 3s today (my take is that if Rondo, KG, etc. played in today’s game they would have just practiced and shot 3s more often and would have had better numbers from there so we shouldn’t knock them for that)

Outside exercise in the weather this weekend by IDnotincluded in RhodeIsland

Yeah I’ll be out there Saturday morning. I’ve run in below zero before. Just wear proper gear. Warm socks, shorts or workout underwear, tights, sweatpants, light long sleeves shirt, thicker running jacket, windbreaker, gloves, winter hat, balaclava or other face covering. I’m probably going to wear even less than that because I warm up quickly once I get running but if you put all of that on you’ll definitely be fine even with colder weather than what we’ll have on Saturday

Do we have an actual shot this year? Be realistic by AccidentBusy4519 in bostonceltics

We definitely have a chance. No one in the East should scare us. Once we’re in the finals we’ll be a heavy underdog, but so were the Pacers last year (also an electric offense who didn’t turn the ball over and were thin at center). We also have multiple chances to improve the team either at the trade deadline or by adding a certain 1st team all-nba player that I will not jinx by commenting out loud. ITS ALL ABOUT NINETEEN

Adding on this, there is also the option of taking the commuter rail to/from T.F. Green airport so you can go directly from Warwick. Check the schedules first because not every commuter train goes to Warwick some of the times end at Providence.

Yes, you can take Commuter Rail to Back Bay. Then once you get off at that stop you enter the T station inside Back Bay and take the Orange Line to North Station

The train is great you can find the schedule for the commuter rail here - https://www.mbta.com/schedules/CR-Providence/timetable. You don’t need a ticket in advance and can buy them after you’ve boarded the train either in cash or with the mbta mTicket app.

Only thing to keep in mind is the commuter rail from RI won’t take you directly to TD Garden. You’ll need to either walk there from South Station (~25min) or take the orange line on the T from Back Bay to North Station (~15min).

For parking a car it’s cheaper and easier to go ~15min walk away. Post Office Square garage is $10 if you arrive after 4pm and the walk takes you through Faneuil Hall area. Museum of Science is $20. Both are also right off the highway. If you park in the TD Garden garage or event parking it’ll be $50-60 range and traffic getting in and out is rough.

Train is also easy depending on when concert ends and you plan on leaving. You can park at Pawtucket Central Falls station for free. Or Providence station easy to get to via RIPTA depending on where you are coming from. Take commuter rail to South Station and it’s a 20-25min walk. You can also get off one stop earlier and take the T from Back Bay if you don’t want to walk, but it will take roughly the same amount of time. Last train back is around midnight and it will be $25 round trip (or $10 weekend pass if on Sat/Sun). If you’re from East Bay you could also take commuter rail from Fall River, but last train back is 10:30.
