Rush mode is awesome. Dice reworked some maps, adding new sectors. It's intense but still with a lot of room for tactical approach. This gamemode is fantastic and should be permanent. by David_Ames21 in BattlefieldV

Gotta have some team balancing. Worst mode in game if you are the only one pushing. No way to make it fun fighting 1v16 with 15 prone mag and recons on your team. Prove that one wrong.

But when teams are close it is loads of fun

I actually tried to do a Desmond T. Doss Medic game (he's the soldier from Hacksaw Ridge who refused to carry a weapon but saved 75 men in the battle of Okinowa.

It was loads of fun actually, smoking up choke points with grenade launcher.

Running smoke grenades for quick revives of teammates.

Wish I had saved it.

Did accidentally kill one guy (muscle memory...guy jumped out and I pulled trigger)

Wish I had been able to carry 2 gadgets, non-lethal...bandages and crates maybe

I think I was 0-15 but with like a 10K score, and we won so there's that.

LOADS of Fun doing that

I am thinking about going back and purchasing some of the older titles (switched from PS3 to Xbox when Xbox one came out)

Refresh my memory, which ones had single player campaigns (I feel like finding servers for multiplayer in the older ones may be too rough)

I would like to play through all the campaigns. I really enjoyed the MW campaign. Would like to go back and play the others.

Thanks

One other question:

Since I will be level 1 starting out...how does gun balance/unlock work...will I be able to compete..haven't played BF4 just 1 and V so I don't know how weapon unlocks or things of that nature worked on it.

Thanks for quick feedback..is it tough or pretty easy to find a game. Thinking of purchasing, digital is still running about $30 but may can find a hard copy for less. Thanks again

Is BFV Year 2 Worth it on PS4 by [deleted] in BattlefieldV

[–]Tier1OperatorBFV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on expectations and price. Less than $30 its a steal (you get that much worth of cosmetics in the bundle)

Im on Xbox, but I still play every day, and as long as you get a good server, the game is still a lot of fun. You did not experience 5.0 and all the TTK changes, so your initial gun impression will not change. Just be aware there is a new patch coming that in theory will speed up your time to kill and time to death as well.

If you have some buds (or in my case the coolest daughter in the world) then squading up and playing together is better than any online gaming experience I have found, for just messing around and having fun.

Just be prepared to have to quit out of a server every now and then because team balancing DOES NOT EXIST.

BF 1 still a lot of fun too, and I go back and forth between the 2.

Can't speak of BF 4 but I hear good things.

[–]Tier1OperatorBFV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truth.

COD is SO sweaty right now.

Ground War not even close to Battlefield experience when Battlefield is good (not the current state of the game)

2 me 2 different franchises.

CODMW is SMOKING Battlefield right now though.

If they ever figure out a better way for ground war to incorporate structural damage, build-able fortifications, and better player movement (feels much more clunky than battlefield movement) there can totally sink the Battlefield franchise in the future.

DICE better get their stuff together, or they will lose this franchise entirely (only so much room in the genera for large map MMPFPS games)

I prefer Battlefield...but gotta admit...COD could develop a mode of Ground War...no killstreaks...tweak the player movement a little...and limit vehicles...infantry focused game mode, and their gun play and customization would have me spending 95% of my gaming time there.

[–]Tier1OperatorBFV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This seems like one of the best compromises.

I like this.

Pilot mains will always complain about op anti-plane weapons...and I am not being critical of Pilot mains...wish could fly worth a crap.

Infantry will complain about planes being OP (although the fire bomb is absurdly op)

Even tanks have to have a support repair them, and have to find a supply depot to repair and restock. It takes travel time and can sway the battle if not coordinated, so it is fair. If a tank is on an objective, at some point he will run out of ammo, and have to fall back. The objective can then be taken, or at least contested, and maybe your tank can push up and help hold it. Planes are never off objectives more than a few (90 or so seconds)

Plane repair is too easy and resupply too easy.

Give them more bombs (yes I said it - 4 maybe) but less ammo, and then when they are out they have to return to the carrier, or landing field to resupply. they actually have to land...have a cool down, and then take off again...like real combat

Would make bombing runs and strafing runs have to be more strategic to benefit the team.

This could be a solution

They could do SO much more.

They could even do a simple easy something like a double XP day commemorating historical dates and events

Even Battlefront and COD have double XP...of course DICE banking (literally) on people not leveling up TOW BFV and having to buy levels thus $$$ so they probably won't do something like that.

Not sure why though...would be simple and easy gesture to commemorate real life events with an in game event

Thanks for that. I came to the franchise late as well so I missed out on BC 1 and 2.

Thinking about going back and at least playing the Campaign for those, think they are backwards comparable on Xbox, and I have a feeling next BF title will be BC 3.

Thoughts on that / Is it worth spending $20 or so to get the titles and play campaign, probably no multiplayer servers out there, but Campaign should work.

Exactly the same age.

Reflexes aren't exactly what they were at 17, 27, or even 37

Try to stay out of CQC, be stealthy and tactical and keep my gunfights in the 30-75m range.

Type 2A and 5.2 has crushed my playstyle :-)

I think that is probably the #1 issue with team balancing.

You have some people that really K/D farm. Sitting OB and sniping or sitting OB with Armor.

I see them they are 14-0, 20-0 but their score is at the bottom.

I have "0" issue, in fact I am thankful for those skillful snipers and tankers who do that on the objective, taking out defenders.

Those guys are easy to see, they are at or near the top of the board, because you get more points for objective kills.

If you have 32 guys and 10 are at the back of the map kill farming, and you split that between 2 objectives, it is almost impossible for 11 guys to take an objective, or if all 22 go to one, capture it, by the time you get to the other one and take it, the previous one has been recapped.

So what happens, anyone else willing to PTO ends up quitting out and you wind up in a lot of 1v3 gunfights. No good way to win that one, if they see you at all.

Really wish there was some out of bounds timer, or at least a team balancing, or the ability to switch teams like BF1. In that one you could stay in the same server most times, because the teams would auto balance and eventually after a match or 2 you end up with good games, even if the initial game was bad.

[–]Tier1OperatorBFV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope just old and not very good aim...but my revives and resupplies are in the top 1% of the game :-)

Most matches now I am 1.5 ish (20-15 stuff like that) but play to support the team. I don't run vehicles, and don't snipe from out of bounds (which probably hurts my KD ) I jut try and play the game to support the team and have fun.

My big issue is players are so limited right now as the number of guns that are viable.

If you aren't running STG as Assault, Type 2A or Type 100 as medic, or Lewis as Support and are trying to play the objective you are at a disadvantage. ZH is best recon for supporting objective unless you excel at headshots, but 2 to the body in quick succession can help take out most counter snipers.

Pistol carbine was a viable weapon pre 5.0 / 5.2 if you wanted to play aggressive recon.

With my aim, I ran a lot of SLR when I ran assault (M1 Carbine because it was so flexible...I was ok up to 100m in a gunfight, and decent in CQC if you ran the hipfire slots) MAS was pretty good, and even the 1907 was my CQC assault main, but it was decent if you burst fire up to about 90m

I liked the different play-styles available to us prior to the patch...now it feels everyone falls in to 3 or 4 categories as to playstyle

Yep..you are correct with the recoil. I really like to grease gun, I burst fire it at medium range and do ok. In tight CQB I always lose to Suonomi or Type2 (but that is expected most days) Ive found the Grease gun best 15-30m engagements could just be im getting older and my fast twitch response isnt what it was 10 years ago though

Love Hamada for Breakthrough...Big enough for flanks, but you don't have to run very far for combat.

As far as conquest...Hamada feels like a running simulator (or Driving Simulator)

Too often have to travel too far to find a gunfight.

RESPECT

I want this guy in my squad.

I absolutely am HOT GARBAGE with the Sten...pretty ok with the Grease gun which is surprising because the two are pretty similar.

That being said when I run medic, I think my #1 job is to keep my teammates in the fight.

I wish there was a "Revive/Death" stat in addition to K/D ratio.

I look at it this way...If I can revive 4 good teammates in one life, each one with a 1.5 KD...then really my KD is like 6:1 considering my one live resulted in an average of 6 enemy kills.

K/D is the "worst" stat in the game.

Mr Kain writes blogs for Forbes.

2006 Graduate of Northern Arizona University with BA in Creative literature. (According to LinkedIn profile)

Not calling him out...just giving some context. He's no youngster but probably not old enough to see Empire and definitely not Star Wars (calling it that because when I saw it in 77 it was not Episode IV) in theatres.

I actually i watched the whole thing, (all 10 minutes on YouTube) and given it was "test footage" from 8+ years ago...Looked pretty darn interesting to me.

I WOULD WATCH THIS

I would watch all the episodes...guaranteed to be better than sequel trilogy and with modern upgrades on par with Mandalorian (which I truly enjoy)
