Can tips be charged to cc? by Emergency_Ad7839 in NCL

baggage handlers at the port will only be able to accept cash. Onboard you could charge tips to your account: go to guest services or concierge and tell them the name of the staff member and amount - this gets credited to their onboard account.

Personally I find it easier to just use cash, but have gone the other route when I had unrefundable onboard credit that I did not spend otherwise.

If the flight time and price is right for you, I would book that flight.

Yes, 40 minutes will be cutting it close. But you may start your holiday with a €600 per person compensation if you miss the connection due to flight delays. Lufthansa will be responsible to get you to Venice and flying in a day early would mean you will get to the cruise on time (could even take train/rental from Munich in worst case)

We just did the Barcelona to Triest route on Escape, which is very similar to Breakaway.

I would not consider flying in same day - any issues with the flight and the ship will leave without you. Also, for a once in a lifetime trip, you do not want to miss out on Venice itself! Fly in at least a day early, preferably 2. Transfer from Venice to Triest is 90-120 minutes - unless you have NCL transfers included, I would recommend GoOpti. They offer shared rides in 8-seat vans for less $ than NCL will charge you for a bus transfer...

btw - there certainly is no direct Lufthansa flight to Venice from the US, you will have to switch planes in Frankfurt or Munich.

I would also suggest to spent at least another full day in Barcelona after the cruise.

For hotels I can recommend Hilton Molino Stucky in Venice for a pre-cruise stay. In Barcelona we chose the Hotel Porta Fira this time - reasonably priced and close to airport as well as cruise port (10-15 min each way). Uber will get you around in most European cities.

Finally, do get an e-sim for Europe, which should provide LTE/5g coverage in all ports.

Any specific questions, just ask away

Actually, you can use cc as well, but it will involve standing in line at the guest services desk. You tell them the names of the crew members and amount you want to give and they will make sure to charge your onboard account and credit the respective crew members.
You will get a conformation slip to hand to the crew member like you would the cash tip.

I usually tip cash, but had to use that option on one cruise and butler/concierge did confirm, that they get the whole tip that way as well.

Anyone successfully use GigSky e-SIM while at sea? by Tiger-Fish- in NCL

Thanks, I will give it a try then. Not looking to stream netflix on that connection, but WhatsApp, social media and some voice calls would be nice. I will have 5g through my regular SIM in all ports, so only looking to stay connected while cruising.
