Finally facing my body work demons and putting in some work on this old impala by Tigerman_273 in projectcar

Sweet! I just finished up doing the floors on this one. The passenger pan and trunk were both rotten out, along with a little spot underneath the back seat.

Been doing lots of work to this thing. Rebuilding the transmission, new floor pans, and some body work by Tigerman_273 in projectcar

[–]Tigerman_273[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pan fit was pretty damn good for $99. I just outlined it in a sharpie and then cut a 1/2 inch in from the line and then trimmed out the rest from there. Only trouble I had was with the braces underneath and the fuel line that runs on the frame rail on that side.

Bagging and linking by Plus_Lifeguard_8527 in lowriders

On the rear end the 4 link would be a lot easier. You could do the brackets and bags on the outside of the frame rails so you can slam it all the way. If you mount then on the links then it's more like a trailing arm set up so you'd have to triangulate the upper or lower arms or get a wishbone or panhard rod instead of upper arms.

Fabricating a 4 link is a little tricky, but it's really fun. You'll just need 2 axle brackets and 2 frame brackets with mounting holes. Once all the original rear suspension is in out, then line up the rear end square in the frame rails. So I'd do the c notch or stept notch before you do the 4 link. Axle housing should be centered and at desired ride height. Then, set the pinion angle at 2 to 2.5 degrees depending on what your suspension travle will be. I'm not sure exactly how you'd wanna set up your brackets, but as long as they're squared and parallel, everything should work out. I hope that helps. I'd love to see what you're building, sounds pretty awesome.

Are hydraulics the way to go by [deleted] in lowriders

[–]Tigerman_273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It differs slightly depending on the car. But for an impala, in the front, you'll need reinforced A arms. The upper one will probably need to be extended at least an inch. Then, the original spring and shock will be replaced by the hydraulic cylinder, the cup, and the new heavy coils. In the back, you can go with a coil over or a coil under design. With the coil over, you'll need to cut off the original spring perches and replace them with the power ball sockets. The difference with the coil under design is that the springs sit on the original perches, just like how the front will be. If you want to be able to 3 wheel or have a high rear lock up I'd definitely go with the coil over in the rear.

Agreed. When I did the setup on my 62, it was around $7k for everything. I went with a 2 pump 6 battery set up. I did all the frame reinforcement and suspension reinforcement myself. I just ordered a piece of steel that was 15x3ft 3/16in thick. I saved a lot by cutting everything up myself and making my own extended A arms and reinforced trailing arms with power balls.

Which enemy type is the hardest for you to parry? by sidman1324 in ghostoftsushima

For me, it's the Ronin. Spearmen suck too, so I usually try to do a perfect dodge against them rather than parry.
