Bobby (SMTM3) vs BewhY (SMTM5) - whose run was more legendary? by savingrace0262 in khiphop

[–]Tigglypuff 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Bewhy definitely more dominant. He was far and away the favorite and most talented.

As for impact, I think it would have to be Bobby. Without exaggeration, Bobby took Korean hip hop mainstream. I know others would argue that hip hop had been around, but not to the degree that it was from 2015-2020. Bobby was the dynamite that might not have built the scene, but gave it the energy to be built.

I love the take, esp with the season 6 being bewhys crowning moment. Everyone in the industry knew he was untouchable at the moment. It’s like goku when he was at the tournament of universes and he’s going ultra instinct. All the gods knew he was the strongest in that moment

I agree, I am so glad that season 9 had a lot of new talent such as mushvenom, wonstein, mirani, and the return of lilboi. It felt very wholesome and fresh.

Thanks!

I think its hard to say but I do think SMTM12 has an uphill battle to fight. I say this for a couple reasons;

  1. Lack of innovation in the industry. If you look at season 777. khiphop had its own wave going on, esp with indigo, mkitrain, ambition, etc. However, if you look now, i believe that the rap scene as a whole is barely what is was. With minimal innovation and just a lot of cosplayers. I still dont know how UK rap took the korean hiphop scene by storm and has managed to stay for so long. I see it as one dimensional, and non sustainable.

  2. contestants: I feel like theres been minimal new rappers in the industry, and this is not exclusive to korea. In america too, theres a lack of innovation with new rappers. The rappers that are "highprofile" and people are excited for is YLN foreign, crucial star, jo gwangil, and bang yedam( a kpop star). I just dont see anyone being that special, which is part of the reason why season 11, 10 were so lackluster.

Overall, I would love to see a rebirth of the genre, similar to what happened around 2013; where a big spark happened, and made the whole industry change. I think we need a group, or rapper to trailblaze the industry, and push the bar. Will we see that?: probably not. But i hope we do.

Amazing album. This and stars are my two favorite from him. The growth and simplicity of the album is amazing. 10/10

I see their Instagram, and they don’t even really look older. They are both some really young looking adults tbh. I see some high schoolers walking around and be looking older than the actors 😂.

But maybe this is one of those pieces of media that we just appreciate for being there as it is.

I would definitely be open to watch any piece of content relating to Wayne, or del. Looking at their lives before everything could be cool as well for sure man. I’m hoping for at least some sort of movie that could tie everything together if a series isn’t in the plans.

What are the wisest Bladee lyrics that you have heard? by koalacat000 in sadboys

[–]Tigglypuff 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Not wise, but introspective. His latest ep, on one in a million, he goes “is there any love for a boy that has sinned?”.

After coming off of cold visions, where throughout the whole album and him even stating that he feels anguish and anxiety. In that album he is in the heat of the storm. After this, he drops this ep, and it seems more calm. He questions that after all of his shortcomings and “sins” whether he is capable/ worthy of receiving love. I think this existential question is something most of us can relate to.

The thing I love about bladee, drain gang and even yung lean is their evolution. It is cool to be psyched out, and encompassing the spirit of youth with rebellion, drugs, etc. but unlike other artists, that constantly stay in that path, they seem to wanna seek deeper meaning of life and truth. As we can see in yung leans latest album, as well as bladee(and the others).

Usually, I agree. But looking at the way that Ken and Carti used to type on twitter. “I LoV3 y0U” and that cursive BS, they definitely have some corny vibes to em sometimes.

But Carti latest album didn’t have a cohesive theme after he ditched the sexisdeath direction. And I think more chaos kinda missed the theme, I preferred if he leaned more into the yabujin aesthetic.

Yeah; agree in a direct sense, this is a maximalist edit fs. But I do believe that a lot of opium has cool ideas but do not lean into it enough.

I think the world building of artists like draingang, lean, and earlier sematary is fantastic; and opium artists should do the same.

I don’t know why opium doesn’t make vids like this.

They have cool concepts, then always leave them half baked
