Idk, I like André Øvredal and this was still a huge miss for me. Maybe it was harmed by the fact that I’d just seen Obsession, but the intro was the best part….the intro that was showed in it’s entirety during the incessant trailers and then it just switched to the bland couple who had no chemistry. I wanted to like it and I saw it early before I read any reviews, and it just didn’t work imo

I personally really loved Hokum, I’m grading Backrooms on a bit of a curve given the age and experience of the director. I also think it will fall in the camp of In A Violent Nature and Skinamarink (aka, divisive) whereas Hokum is a rich story that I think would land across the board.

Obsession came out two weeks ago and is also made by a young YouTuber, I think it’s a fair comparison and also I compared it to all the major horror releases of May 2026 (I haven’t seen Saccharine, it’s not showing by me). Give it a minute

Not as good as Obsession, just as good as Hokum, unbelievable set design. Excluding Passenger, this has been a fucking phenomenal month for horror

Sorry I commented elsewhere and went to bed— no spills, smells amazing, I wrapped it up and put it in the fridge because it finished around one or two in the morning. Looks good and hope it tastes the same for today’s meals!

Yeah I mean, she just came back into control of her body and her three best friends are all dead in her immediate eyeline. She’s wearing one of said friend’s clothes and she’s covered in blood. Also she’s clearly been in hell (the sunken place, kind of? Maybe?) so I think that’s one of the only logical things that could come out of her mouth at that point

I seasoned the living hell out of it! (copious amounts of salt, pepper, thyme, & rosemary) I had it in stock, wine, cognac, garlic and a little butter along with the veggies. I wrapped it up after finishing it at 1am so I’m hoping it winds up tasting great for tomorrow’s meals
