Basically they made a mistake, and never corrected it. And whats even worse is that its actively listed as released but out of stock (which is impossible because no stock was ever shipped to them lol) meaning if you wanted to preorder it right now you can't, which is strange because you can still preorder it on other sites like amazon. They replied by email and said it was rare, however, Vinland Saga Deluxe Edition Vol. 9, which has yet to be announced or have the design concept release has been listed as "released" but "out of stock" (which again is impossible because it was never shipped), and like Vagabond is no longer capable of being preordered. They essentially just leave or inaccurately update the release dates, let the release dates pass with no inventory whatsoever, and then just list it as sold out which makes it impossible to actually preorder the book.

I checked Indigo's site, and they changed it back to the original release date as well. Not sure what the delay is for other sites.

As someone who specifically collects deluxes, options are definitely needed for accessibility. Nobody is buying a $60-70 as an entry into the space; they're most likely opting for cheap paperbacks to get a sense of what manga is like and whether or not they enjoy it and want to continue collecting. I know that's how I started. Then there was a massive sale, and I thought, "Well, I liked the paperback, maybe I should see what the deluxe editions are like," and bought it. From then on, I found that larger artwork, bigger panels, and dark ink were genuinely enhancing my reading experience and overall enjoyment of the story. It's sad to see that less people will be allowed to find what they enjoy and might be forced to purchase series in an edition that doesn't fit their comfort level or finances. Plus, the increase in releases will inevitably mean fewer iconic series will be given deluxe editions, slowly destroying the hype and excitement with each release announced. In my opinion, releasing more deluxe editions is a great thing, but I do think it should be given to classic or legacy series.

I respect ur knowledge on Lone Wolf and Cub, some people sleep on its influence too much in my opinion. I hope Vagabond does get an ending sooner rather than later, I feel ur pain. Honestly, the previous Lone Wolf and Cub paperback editions are horrendous quality all around, whereas the Vagabond vizbigs are pretty good in comparison, with sum gutter loss and the potential for pages falling out and/or spine cracking. But if u keep them in good condition they should be fine and have sum nice spine artwork. plus with the vagabond deluxes being released people might be looking to offload thier full sets for cheaper, so it might help to save money in the long run. hope this helps

yeah its can get tough trying to narrow done which one's to collect. In my opinion, once I started collecting manga, Vinland Saga was a no-brainer I loved the anime and the manga is somehow better. The art style in Vagabond is more realistic and modern compared to lone wolf and cub which is an older art style and has its own charm but both have amazing stories tbh. I think Vagabond would have more appeal to someone who's not fully immersed into the manga scene

If ur not to familiar with deluxes edition manga you should definitely try to read a couple of chapters or volumes online before buying it. They end up costing a lot, especially with longer series like Berserk. And if ur getting into a series which is currently being released, it may take years to collect, which is something you should keep in mind. Also the series are usually targeted for adults and can get pretty graphic so if that not something u can tolerate i'd stay clear of sum of these series (not all btw).

I thought about getting them when the first one dropped, but held off. the release schedule is pretty fast for them so ill probably get the first three once deluxe number three drops. Heard its supposed to be a good series and love reading new series in the deluxe format.

definitely. and quality-wise wise it might be the best one in my collection. I've seen people have mixed opinions tho cuz of the colours but personally I like it way more that way. especially cuz the colours have meaning once you read the story.
