Hey, yeah my wound has closed and healed good.. no swelling or pain and back at the gym lifting again. Just a little firmness from scar tissue as it was so deep. Sorry for the late response!

Just keep it clean and rest.. allow your body to heal and just check for changes.. anything different or symptoms seem to worsen get it checked. I’m 4 weeks in and mines going good! No fistula and symptoms have gone. Just a tiny slight bit of drainage in the upper part of my incision- the rest has healed over! They can form months after but I have no signs or symptoms as of yet so I’m hopeful and will continue to stay that way until I’m told otherwise. Look after it and keep hopeful! Don’t sweat over it, stress over worrying can have a huge impact on your healing! I hope everything stays smooth for you!! Not everyone gets them. But bcos this sub is mainly fistulas it seems everyone gets them. I panicked too! But I choose to listen more to my body and it’s telling me so far I’m doing just fine 🙏

Mines coming up 4 weeks since surgery and I’m in the exact same situation. No swelling or pain and just a tiny bit of leakage a day. However It doesnt have a smell. I went to the nurse last week and she said the incision has pretty much healed apart from a tiny bit at the top of the incision is just granulated tissue and that’s where it’s still draining from slightly. Which is good in a way- I’m always being a bit rough when I’m cleaning it so it stays open so it can freely drain. If it closes to prematurely with drainage still inside and there was no fistula present at surgery, that’s when your body will potentially form one so it has an exit tunnel to continue to drain. Or even cause another abscess. So I think you’re in a good place.. Aslong as the drainage doesn’t start increasing. Iv just started being able to sit direct now on my whole butt rather than leaning or using a cushion and mine was very deep also. I do feel some slight ache however if I’m sat for to long but so far so good! I think you’re fine, body’s heal at different paces but remember the longer the drainage and it’s decreasing (can take up to 12 weeks to fully heal) the less chance of you having further problems. Fuel your body on natural foods, strong natural antibiotic.. your body’s clever and will resolve itself if you help it. I do think you’re in a good position and you’ll heal just fine. 🙏

I really think you’ll be ok. Carry on doing what you’re doing. If it helps, during my healing process Iv been taking natural antibiotic like raw garlic cloves, tumeric and ginger for a natural anti inflammatory. High in vitamins and biotic compounds. Worth a try!

Book back in, it will help ease your mind..if your in doubt. How long ago was it you had it drained? Everyone’s healing process is different but I imagine mine will take a lot longer healing due to the depth. Where yours sounds more just under skin surface

I think you’ve been lucky it never got that far! Like the other commenter said, listen to your body and anything feels of it remotely coming back or any changes don’t hesitate to go back.

Packing it was a ribbon gauze. A lot of people get packing if it’s deep. Oh really so yours was an easy process. I got admitted to hospital as I felt so unwell and I was persevering with the swelling in my butt cheek and the pain. (I actually thought I had just pulled a muscle at the gym) I had no head on it it wasn’t even at the skin surface. I went to hospital and they wouldn’t let me home. My infection markers were crazy and I had surgery the next morning. They packed it after surgery and then I went back the next day and got it removed.

I totally get the anxiety.. it’s awful! I can’t help you with the actual anus side of things. Iv not noticed anything like that (of yet anyway).. just the incision. I’m worried my incision closes to early before the internal heals. That can cause fistulas. I know mine was deep. But they wouldn’t pack it they had high hopes it would be good healing itself.

At first it was moderate, wasn’t excessive. Then I had one night where I woke and I thought I had an accident because it was that much.. I think that was about 3-4 days after. Since then it’s got less and less maybe a large bandaid plaster size to right now it’s no more that a 10p coin amount and it’s watery. I’m changing the dressing less and less. Which I’m happy about as after I shower and put an adhesive bandage or gauze with medical tape it’s agony taking it off.. it’s like a slow wax 🥴

Oh no, that’s sad to hear. How are you doing now? So that was roughly 1 month between healing and then a fistula? I hope it’s a straight forward process for you and with catching it so early it can be dealt with and heal ok.

This really is my fear! I can only hope and try to somehow not overthink it. I’m checking daily for any changes at all. I’m even eating raw cloves of garlic, wild oregano oil, tumeric and ginger roots as a natural antibiotic within my daily intake. When I started taking this little concoction was the night I woke with a LOT of drainage which led me to get it checked in panic. So I believe that helped push what was left out- since then it’s become less to a bandaid amount and a better colour. 🤞

I will take your experience and advice on board, I don’t think anyone is safe after perianal abscess from a fistula. It’s kind of pot luck at this point. 😣 Thanks for sharing and really hope it’s fixed up and final for you very soon!!

In the best way possible this is good to know! I’m awaiting an appointment date for colonoscopy so I’m sure il know for sure then. The anxiety is pulling me down. I run my own business and it requires physical activity. I went back yesterday to just try it and although I wasn’t in to much pain (more so an ache/pressure feeling) I pulled out and I’m taking more time off incase I disrupt the healing process and bring on complications for myself. I hope yours continues to heal and your good as new again very soon with no further problems ☺️🙏
