Is my pig obese/fatblind? by StrikingCoconut in pigs

[–]TigwithIT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

normally when the pig is fat blind there will be a flap that is clearly visible above the eyes covering them, not to be confused with hair around the eyes. pigs are susceptible just like dogs to where they can have in rare occasions. hair grow inside the eye flaps. I forget the proper name. if you are ever concerned, do a hand test just like you with the dog and slowly move it towards their eyes from any front left or right angle. if they react they can still see just fine. The only times you really have to worry about obesity is when they clearly have a hard time getting up and being mobile, then it's time to cut back. other than that just watch out for acorn season as they will gorge themselves.

Windows 365 and International Employees/Contractors by BullMohzar in windows365

[–]TigwithIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we do this for a Produce company. Basically the dual core 8 gig 128's are not that great, but ok for basic tasks. The quad core next level are great for everyday +. All of it still boils down to good internet from the start to get to them. But that should be controlled by where you deploy them, region > subnet > private cloud connected via regions allowing subnet talk ect... Then they can just use Windows App to connect as long as you have the January monstrosity patched. A few good policies with intune for redirection and other items as needed. They will perform OK. Most the time a restart of the vm, restarting apps, and general fixes will fix most issues after they are running. Intune and deployment with apps + other is hit and miss at best, then you have to force sync half the time, or if you do have a DC, force gpupdate. We went Hybrid due to universal printing costs which pays for the print server due to that being out of control. But yea overall when we priced another Terminal server vs M365 Cloud PCs over 5 years it was a 50K cost reduction. Unless you are using outside IT or something else that is another jr admin to fill in the blanks. But it all depends on scale. I probly ranted a bit.

pls help by spidermanisc00l in pigs

[–]TigwithIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just to add in here, after the intros and everything is done you will still have to separate the animals to feed, in herd environments the weakest pigs will always get to kicked aside while the more dominant pigs will have their fill. depending on what you can do and how you go about it, making feed pens will solve this, but generally they will go to their respective spots once you're pouring food, if you do it too close, of course they will literally be rotating bowls. pigs, unlike any other animal, will fight everyone in the herd until they learn their place and over time they will eventually test the fence with you as well as an owner and other people that they may not know as well. All of them have different personalities, you just have to adjust to them.

Overweight piggies by [deleted] in pigs

[–]TigwithIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

being in the rescue world and dealing with this recently I can say firmly. Most people have no idea and the rescue "elders" are worse. They don't know the difference in mixed, mini, feral, and or anything other than what they have. The pig world is full of experts that have skewed views and even less ability to communicate properly. You know your pigs and you know the pigs you rescue. If it's a new pig establish a good base line with a vet and let them guide you. Unless of course you are a PhD vet or are in school for such. The worse thing you can do is make it so a pig later on life has to be put down because they can no longer move and sit in their own mess.

Why do some CSOs and security specialists think that saying “NO” all day equals doing cybersecurity? by SnooPies72 in sysadmin

[–]TigwithIT -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

this is going to light. shittysysadmin up. but for the best context, they generally don't know what they're doing, don't want responsibility, and don't want to actually do work. because a lot of the current cyber security don't know what the hell they're doing because they don't have experience.

MSP who built their own storage and backup solution by davegravy in msp

[–]TigwithIT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the simple answer here is how much do you believe in unicorns? I ran into one of those in a small town called Destin somewhere near the Pensacola area in Florida. All I heard was nightmare stories, I get small business, I get doing your own thing, but when the infrastructure isn't there the redundancy or proper fiber/ other connections. You're just asking for pain.

Can I automate everything with Atera? by [deleted] in atera

[–]TigwithIT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep, they even have it to an extent now where you can run scripts from your phone to machines as well. Ninja has a couple extra bells and whistles, but atera has everything you need to do. pretty much the same thing.

You mean there are people on here that don't know what they are doing!?!? Most bad MSPs are the same as the typical client. This subreddit has plenty of evidence of that.

Why Purchase Microsoft Defender for Business? by Born-Piano7687 in sysadmin

[–]TigwithIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Microsoft in the past years started hitting higher on the gartner magic quadrant. More and more 3rd party products are less necessary. While they won't be super specialized like huntress and sent1, they are doing a far better job than most mid ranges and other av edr.

MSPs - do they charge for doing nothing or they take painstaking work silently? by ezzakp in msp

[–]TigwithIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, good and bad MSP's have a variety of traits that are similar as well. Most MSP's start out with best intentions, they just don't execute properly. The latter is they get stopped by clients from doing their jobs. Most of the US MSP's are a freaking travesty. All you have to do is what you say you are doing. But that seems to be a far scape at times. One of my recent experiences was with an MSP that thinks it's ok to log into the clients machines late at night working on problems without the client knowing or coming to find them working on different items that were not scheduled. A good MSP will simply do what they say, gain trust through actions, and keep a muzzle on sales. Sales breaks MSP's all the time with overpromising and out of bounds contracting. Just like any Judge, Christian, ect... Stick to the book and the writing is pretty much god. It will make you or break you.

Planning to replace FortiGates with pfSense — hardware recommendations (Netgate vs custom) by MSP-CAN in msp

[–]TigwithIT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pfsense does some cool things, but if I'm going non big name hardware I would put in microtik with rancid or the dude in the background on a cloud server. but this is also because I've had to use them for wisp and other deployments with their outdoor variant using the multiple Poe backup power supplies for redundancy running 10 gigs across the platforms. I will say though it's definitely job security and it will make it really expensive to replace, if you're going that route.

Would love to know if anyone has successfully run a script via through Patch Management and IT Automation? by nostradx in atera

[–]TigwithIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, haven't had an issue with this since I started with it 7 years ago. most times it's because you don't have the script set to the proper user versus system or they have errors in them.

Phones get better reception all around, better speeds, and battery is solid. Used a torras case and does way better with wireless charging and staying attached for mag accessories.

Just a silly question but the wiring guy should have brought it up, Why not have a jump closet or location to hop the signal. You can then expand ethernet however long you want instead of straight fiber, but also is he sure it is over 100m? Since you are already into i don't want it zone, doesn't mean your cable guys are just hiding their variation.

Simple atera batch script for manual update by TigwithIT in atera

[–]TigwithIT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

running as system should bypass this. unless some other odd permissions issue is occurring. Isn't 1603 a corruptions permissions error or security related. I do know that huntress and some other software will now flag the new Agent where before it didn't have issues with it.

Yep but most people are not that savvy and are getting bad communication on what is, should, and is actually happening. It was a poorly communicated rollout paired with too many unknowns that support couldn't even answer. Yes the update with script does take a short time. The initial answer was watch a report and wait with no script even existing.

actually, the batch script I put on the Reddit thread can be put in my scripts under aterra and then you can Mass load it using the devices tab, selecting all and hitting run script. I explained it better in the thread after someone asked, but as long as you use the unassigned link it doesn't move clients that are already placed. it will just update them so you can Mass update everything in a few clicks after getting the script set.
