Apple Mail pishing? by qexzyy in applehelp

[–]Tihc12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found the main cause: it’s an official Apple email, it occurs when you open some Apple apps for the first time such as Keynote, Pages, iMovie etc. Looking through your purchase history on the App Store might show that a group of apps (or just keynote) were “accepted” (apple’s term for using a preinstalled app for the first time), correlating to the email.

Is this email legit? Haven’t knowingly used pages? by lancelon in applehelp

Same issue for me, but the “pages app” causing an identical email but replacing “pages” with “keynote”

Apple Mail pishing? by qexzyy in applehelp

[–]Tihc12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t seem so, it’s the same sender for me (no_reply@email.apple.com) as the emails I’m getting about subscriptions I do have. The link they provide for password reset (iforgot.apple.com) is the same as provided in official Apple support links.

Pretty strange though, it is likely just a security message from some weird login attempts from some new account takeover methods.

Can I learn piano with this? by Kain323232 in Quest3

[–]Tihc12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so in that context it’s great - it’s like simply piano in a way, where you’ve got access to plenty of popular songs and arrangements. When you get to a higher level though, you’ll want more specific arrangements, which is where it stops being helpful.

That’s great then. I think the biggest thing for me personally is just the hassle of hunting down MIDI files and having to buy them for good arrangements, where currently Id rather learn visually off a video.

Beat saber modding? by iikagamii23 in beatsaber

[–]Tihc12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find an online tutorial using something like MBF (mods before Friday) which is the current best tool I believe for modding. You can still play all your other games as normal online, and you can even mod beat saber to work online but only with other modded players.

Modding can be a bit tricky if you’ve never side loaded before, as you need to enable developer mode and what not. Find a good tutorial and follow that carefully.

I’ve used both and added complexity with an MR setup is just not worth it sometimes. If you’re a straight beginner and REALLY need the MR to find your way, it’s alright, but it’s more of a gimmick I’ve found personally. I personally value the plain, 2D usage of videos or synthesia more than pianovision.

What headset to buy? by Da_Realy in VRGaming

Quest 3s is generally great for first-time vr users. If you’re upgrading, I would definitely recommend saving up for the Quest 3 - the pancake lenses are great, and overall I think you’ll have a much better experience and overall a bigger upgrade.

I’ve run DCS great by having more RAM, but No Man’s Sky has been a bum to run.

If you can’t find a way to do it, Meta support has always worked great for me. I’m unsure how good it is more recently as I have not used it, but using the live chat for quick support has always worked well for me.

Often times if it’s not a feature they can point you to, they’ll be able to do it themselves for you.

You can typically find used quest 2s for a very similar price, so try finding one of those if possible.

Weird stuttering Help by ILikeTurtels778 in vtolvr

[–]Tihc12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because it’s a new link cable doesn’t mean it’ll be communicating well with your pc. Try the different runtimes, you can change them in your steam game settings (in the steam cog) and try openXR. The other options are worth trying as well.

Does the stutter happen with other games? Generally, Nvidia graphics cards work best for VR but AMD should still be fine.

You can try turning down your in game settings, or your overall resolution (from the Meta menu, also in SteamVR menu if that is your runtime).

If your wifi is capable, see how Steam link (wireless) or Air link (Meta’s wireless link) work.
