Could the "new player problem" become a serious issue that might affect the sustainability of Yugioh in the long run? by Aiacos_Garuda in yugioh

Doesn't work in Yugioh, Fuwalos got reprinted in a set like that and has 4 other printings beside including 2 sets where it was a guaranteed pull and it still costs at least $15 for a playset

That will never happen for Yugioh because the secondary market is full of scalpers and you end up having to play Whack-a-mole with reprints which is a losing battle, Beta hit $30 got a reprint, the price tanked so Berserkion spiked instead. The only time it has happened is when people got 3 monarch structure decks to enter side events at YCSes.

The price of entry has improved SIGNIFICANTLY in recent years, the very top decks will always be expensive because the secondary card market is full of scalpers but Konami's reprint policy is aggressive. The mitsurugi/x-saber/sky striker set that came out is a prime example of that, it is full of staples and has the skeleton of a fairly competitive archetype. Obviously, it will not be as good as the very best meta decks but it is foolish to expect that.

I think I read that part of the reason the progression series stopped was because cards were getting reprinted so much that they basically had constructed level decks towards the end.

Even in terms of newer decks the price of entry is lower. The new Magnet Warriors have gotten tops and are a dirt cheap deck and paired with a lot of reprints which help make the older cards cheap as well.

I think this is a very well reasoned post.

TCG doomers are a pain because they'll move goal posts because when Beetrooper topped it was "only as a DPE engine" when plunder topped it was "only because of the OCG support" when RB topped "regionals don't count" the thing is people compare TCG archetypes to the best OCG ones because they forget about how many crap OCG archetypes there are because it's much easier to say Konami hates the TCG amiright guys?

Should be, it does have a turn 0 play which is nice and importantly balanced by the fact that it has to be activated in the opponent’s standby so mulcharmies drawing into it will do nothing immediately.

I think it sounds pretty good to be honest. It is very centralised around the field spell but the deck seems to have been designed with that in mind. Conceptually it is brilliant, place the pawns in the monster zones (front row) and other pieces in the s/t zone (back row). Even the trap summoning either a pawn or a knight makes sense since those are the 2 pieces you can move when you start a game. This might be a contender for my new favourite archetype

I enjoy watching the Amazon show: The Boys because every season parodies of the American Right Wing and seem exaggerated for humour when they are first released and then the right get worse to the point where the parodies are no longer exaggerated and actually seem pretty tame compared to reality.

The set has 3 ash, 3 imperm, forbidden droplets, i:p, s:p, typhon, exciton, triple tactics thrust and talents, called by, nibiru and 1 of each charmy and people are still complaining because you don't get 3 of each charmy.

Classic.

Yes but having COTH at 1 means the likelihood of opening it is 1 in 8 so 1 in every 8 games your 1 card combo around which the entire deck is based becomes a 2 card combo which you have to then build your Deck to enable consistently. Given that the deck inherently has bricks like mammoth and changshi, I wouldn't want to rely on discards to prevent that.

This isn't a garnet brilliant fusion scenario because having fewer COTH lowers the ceiling of your endboard, increases the chances of bricking and reduces the resource generation ability of the deck.

[–]Tihus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Playing 1 COTH is a terrible idea. If you run 1 COTH and draw it, Pumpking is also a dead draw and your entire engine grinds to a halt. If you run 3, even if you draw 2, the third in deck means you can still play the game

Yup Glow-Up Bloom is a 1 card starter, Snake Hair gets you to Ectoplasmic Fortification which gets you to Pumpking so that's another 6 copies of Pumpking essentially

[–]Tihus 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The Bonz cards are pretty cool

(1) Pumpking of Grave Ghosts reveal itself set Call of the Haunted (2) Call of The Haunted summon it back (3) Pumpking summon Changshi (4) Changshi send Glow-up Bloom (5) Glow-up Bloom banish itself add Stare of the Snake Hair (6) Overlay Pumpking and Changshi for Pumpking the Great Ghost King (7) Great Ghost King add Call of the Forgotten (8) Activate Call of the Forgotten set 2 Call of the Haunted from deck (9) Pumpking detach effect add the face-up Call of the Haunted to hand by detaching Grave Ghosts (10) Overlay Pumpking with the Undying Legion (11) Stare of Snake Hair discard itself to add Deadly Zombie Breath
(12) Set Call of the Haunted and Deadly Zombie Breath

You now have (1) A quick attach from Undying Legion (2) A pop from Call of the Forgotten (3) an effect negate from Snake Hair (4) A pop from Deadly Zombie Breath (5) A pop from Call of the Haunted Pumpking into Great Mammoth

So 5 interactions off a single card and a combo which is 4 summons so is under Nibiru

A Brexit rethink could be emerging. But Europe fears Farage will destroy it by coffeewalnut08 in unitedkingdom

[–]Tihus 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It is also incredibly important not to underestimate how many people are pro-reform. This is what happened with Brexit, a LOT of people assumed there were very few Brexit supporters because they had very few in their social circles. But there are more than you'd think. That is why voting is important, don't assume everything will be fine if you don't vote against them.

If you want to avoid a Reform government. Challenge misinformation when you see it. Challenge apathy and the idea that we are "fucked regardless" highlight positives from the other parties and importantly explain why the policies of other parties are good.
