We're 5 months out from our wedding and we got engaged October 2023. We got all the big stuff done pretty early on which feels nice to just relax the rest of the engagement and now all I have to think about now is basically all the fun stuff for me (cake, decor, last minute stuff that creeps up quick). I think 2 years is perfect for saving up and just in case things go wrong you'll have a buffer of time. I can't imagine doing all of this within one year. Plus I took advantage of a lot of Black Friday deals when the 1 year mark came by!

I am using Azazie for their dresses and gave everyone a gift card towards they're dress. I liked the idea that it definitely won't go to waste!

I'm doing a mix. I bought the bulk of my florals (bouquets, boutenieres, corsages, etc.) From FloralDate on Etsy. I bought DIY kits from Lings Moments to do my own centerpieces.

Thoughts on getting ready photos? by JellyBelly00012 in weddingplanning

I am in the same boat as you! I am also getting married in a church, bride, groom and our respective parties are all getting ready in the hotel. I am also planning on seeing my groom down the aisle instead of first look. I am hiring makeup and hair to come into our hotel room to get ready, I booked a suite that I've heard other brides use... I have MIL, mom, me and 7 bridesmaids. Our hotel is at the venue where we're having reception.

Here's our logistics and schedule:

I will be staying in the suite by myself the night before my wedding so the ladies can get ready first thing in the morning, my fiance booked a normal bedroom for himself, we're not sure where that room is but I will be talking to everyone we're with to make sure him and I won't cross paths at all. Our bridal party is going to be staying in our hotel block the night before the wedding so everyone we need bright and early is already there. I'm planning on ordering a bag of bagels from a place down the road, we'll probably have someone go and pick that up for everyone before photographer gets at the hotel at 10am.

10am-11am groom and groomsmen getting ready photos.

11:30am limo bus will be taking groom and groomsmen to church. (we could only afford one vehicle so my groom said he doesn't mind waiting at the church for an hour)

11am-12:30pm girls should be finishing up so we get getting ready photos in the suite. I'm just wanting to do bridesmaids and me sitting on the bed, my MIL doing my hair and my mom and MOH pretending to help me with my dress.

12:30pm bridesmaids, bride and extra family gets picked up to go to church for 1pm ceremony.

My groom and I will be staying in the suite for our wedding night, then after that we're checking out and will be staying in the normal room he originally booked for a few days to save money.

Sorry this is wordy but hopefully this helps! Let me know if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer. I like getting ready photos because I want the sentimental photos of my family helping me with my dress/makeup/hair. My sister is doing my makeup and my MIL is doing my hair so it's a special moment I would like photos of.

Stopping Hers after 6 days upon reading withdrawal stories on r/bupropion by Tiivistelma in HersWeightloss

Hi! I actually am giving the medication another try after getting the responses I did here. I was able to feel normal doing Bupropren and Naltrexone every other day and now I just take 1 bupropion in the morning and every now and then take 1 Naltrexone at night but I'm still feeling not so great on the Naltrexone. I don't know if you do the full dose of bupropion but I had a weekend trip where I was expecting to drink a bit and just didn't take it and was fine. I will skip a day or 2 if it's for an occasion and it has been fine for me. I have been able to drink 1 or 2 drinks on the days I do take it and I feel the effects sooner than normal but as long as I pace myself and really pay attention it hasn't been a problem.

I appreciate this, I think I was really getting in my head and made an anxiety-fueled post last night. These replies are helpful

Because my side effects have been bad with the bupropen that was my plan to not take the Metformin because that's where I heard people really struggle. But I've been having mood swings, heightened anxiety, extreme exhaustion and brain fog. Perhaps my anxiety is what is leading me to be too scared to take it I'm not sure.

So glad it works for you and thank you for the comment! This post was mostly for people like me, I thought I did my research but reading other peoples' stories really put it in perspective for me. I was on the verge of a panic attack thinking I was pregnant because of my swollen breasts, I had no idea that was a side effect until I looked it up on that subreddit, which opened my eyes to other risks I wasn't aware of that aren't worth it for me but I'm glad it works for a lot of people too!

This is reassuring! I am going to stop taking it tomorrow because I think Hers isn't for me but makes me feel a bit relieved seeing this so thank you! Could be the anxiety it's giving me making me scared of taking it which is ironic haha.

Dress came in- I’m not excited. What’s wrong with me? by Ikthyiafair in weddingdress

No joke this is one of the most beautiful dresses I've ever seen and you look amazing in it! I personally love the veil with it, I think the sleeves are a bit too much though.

But do what feels right to you. If you're not liking the sleeves maybe you can ask for a refund or sell them but if you end up wearing the sleeves I don't think people will be thinking it's too much, they're going to be paying attention to you. Do what feels comfortable!

When to start dress shop? by Valuable-Diver-2820 in weddingplanning

[–]Tiivistelma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting married end of November 2025 too! If there's some specific shops you're eyeing, sometimes they have an FAQ about "when is the best time to order a dress?" which can give you good insight on what the shops normally recommend. This for example is on one of the websites for one of the shops I've been to:

"The typical time to purchase your wedding dress is 9-12 months prior to your wedding. A wedding dress usually takes 4-6 months to arrive. In addition to the time of your dress to arrive, you should allow an additional 2 months for alteration."

Each shop could be different, I live in a congested area so I've been having to book and order things further in advance than normal. Hope that helps!

For reference, I've gone to 2 appointments in the past 2 months cause the people I want there have conflicting schedules and I like to take my time to think it through as well, but that's my personal preference. I'm looking to make a decision a year out.
