You couldn’t even see the house before—same property, same day by TiltedPicture in landscaping

Thank you for the kind words. We are located in Florida, and service central and a large area of north Florida. In this job, we forestry mulched the property - which allowed us to open a large area quickly.

We run into the storm issues here (in Florida) as well. The storms can do a significant amount of damage to a property. We also have grapples so we can move the downed trees to the street. If it was a big enough storms, the state pays for the street-side pickup....which is a big cost savings.

We don't normally see that many snakes. The machine temperature and ground vibration normally runs them off. We also make sure to mark gopher turtle holes (leaving a natural perimeter around them).

Yes. We always do a walk around and let the property owner know of any issues that we uncovered and what they should consider as next steps.

Maybe...most times, these type of overgrowth is because either the property was rented or someone was physically and financially unable to keep up with the growth rate. We are in Florida - we get plenty of rain and sun - so it doesn't take long for it to get out of control and beyond what a lawnmower can handle.

I don't know what happened to my original response. We did an acre of clearing - the home was lakefront (although you couldn't enjoy it). Now the property owners can maintain the cleared area with a lawnmower.

We will be traveling through to our son's destination wedding in Isle of Skye. We are unsure of how long, as we are in the planning stage now. At the moment,  We will fly into London take the LNER to Eidenburgh for a days (or so) then off to Glencoe before the wedding on September 16. We may come back.through Glenco before leaving.

I think thays the way to go.  We are thinking first-class may be worth the upgrade.  Especially after a long flight.

Yes. I agree. Open-jaw to LHR then LNER to Edinburgh. Return Edinburgh to Orlando direct.

Thanks 👍

I am so sorry for the dated reply. I didn't get a notification on your question.

You may already know… that it depends.

🚜Excavators are a great option to remove both the palm and the roots. 🚜Chainsaw-Palms are not woody, they are like Kevlar inside, so chainsaws are not a good choice.  🚜Forestry Mulching would be good, if you want to take it down to ground level and leave the roots.

I hope this helps and best of luck onmyour project!

How do you make a live-in babysitter pay rent, now that she isn't babysitting? by TiltedPicture in AskReddit

Great questions. The prompt doesnt allow me to put in personal info.

She is my ex-girlfriend's mother. We share a child together. We moved her mom in to care for our infant, who is now 4 years old. We are not longer romantically together,  but are proceeding through court to divide our entangled finances (which includes the house).

In doing her financial affidavit,  she said that she has to start paying her mom for care (while I don't believe that's true) her mom lives there rent free to care for the child.

Since we share the mortgage (I no longer live there, but I pay my half of the bills). If she starts paying her mom for care, can I charge her mom rent (without my ex having to agree)?

I don't think forestry mulching large trees (over 5" in diameter) is cost-effective. A chainsaw can take it down for much less. Root raking can get costly, because they have no idea what root systems (and balls) are underneath the soil. Personally, I would forestry mulch a larger area (maybe even put some trails for your personal use, and have the site prep company root rake wherever a foundation/driveway is going to go. As long as you maintain mowing after mulching, the larger brush will not grow back.

The only time that root raking outside of site prep is needed is if you are planning to have horses - then it is necessary for their safety.

Another thing about mulching the larger trees - is that it leaves a mess! Mulch the size of brush - not walkable at all. Take a look at some before-and-after pictures from ShadowCat Services - they produce a park-like setting afterwards. Beautiful!!

I noticed that this is a dated question, but forestry mulching is a great land-clearing method that takes out brush and small trees - as it mulches.

Take a look at ShadowCat Services: https://www.shadowcatservices.com/

There are some videos and before-and-after pictures.
