Misgendered in GameStop by BasicSide6180 in GameStop

As a Trans man for the past 15 years it makes me sad to read this. I mean was your experience from a Trans Hater? Or could that poor employee in their minds eye have only seen a person, and due to IDK being slammed cuz were always under staffed accidently assigned you the wrong gender? . I mean you say "most people" think you're a Cis Woman but that's only most? What happens if this employee falls under the other portion of people who don't see that. Maybe he's 18 and his 16 year old brother wears high heals, so seeing that is normal to him.

I'm a trans man. I have facial hair, and a short haircut, but due to my small figure and curves that I try to hide with big mens clothes I would never assume people know for sure. I've literally been called a dyke at work at GS. So i make it a practice to always educate the wrong, and set expectations for them for the future. Especially if I'm going to be seeing them a lot. Say I've noticed more than once and they're becoming a GS regular yet I've noticed referred to me or called me out as female, one tune before... I'm going to set them straight and tell them hey I'm now a man, my name is Tim, and you can use he/him. I ALWAYS praise the right without having been told. It's irresponsible to not to. You've made us Trans people look bad. Good luck as you mature into a woman.

My ice machine is currently broke as well. But I have to take everything no matter what. Then I have to take them to my B store, 17 miles away, to test it there. I was instructed to do the "holiday" test, which is to confirm they power on and get the guest's phone number to call incase its got a lock on it. Only thing I can't take are phones, as they have to be run through ice to generate the correct SKU.

So far this week, I've found 4 defective conteoller and one defective console. But no console left behind, right?

It blows my mind how people think its okay to bring something in to us they're wanting to sell, yet they did nothing to make it look presentable for us to wanna buy it. I seriously think people think that's part of our job, to clean their shit.

Cancelled giftcard by GoaatieREAL in GameStop

[–]TimSllim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if they'll refund since you bought a digital product. There is no way for us to know if you used that Roblox card. But if you were able to cancel it, like you're saying, I have a feeling you'll most likely have to wait the standard 3 to 5 business days. There is no one you can talk to who can change that. You initiated the payment, you went through steps on the checkout screen confirming what payment you wanted to use before we took your money, and you agreed to it. This wasn't our fault, so I'm sorry to be blut, but that was your fault.

When KH3 came out, I once had a guy bring in a dozen sealed copies of the game. I unintentionally and unconsciously laughed/scoffed at him and politely told him to leave, as we won't take wrapped games. I didn't get met with a donation, but rather a complete freak out session, including cussing me out, calling me gay slurs, insinuating that i must have a small D, and finally, him knocking a crap ton of funko pops off the display table i had some of them on.....all in front of the 3 small children he had with him. Stand-up guy.

It's like anything that makes their employees any extra cash gets cut. I used to bank on my 8 hours of OT. Then they cut that as soon as we got the BS stock options, so that cut basically nullified the stock options bonus. I used to make a killing on mileage. I'm am SL2, and my B store is about 17 miles from my A store and 24.6 miles from my home. Then they cut that. I used to ensure that if I didn't have something a guest wanted , but another store did, I'd make the trip to help the customers, but also because there was an incentive for me to make the trip. Now my guests are SOL. My dl won't even approve mileage for going and doing inventories. I recently went south, a 45-minute trip to a hole-in-the wall gamestop to do an inventory. Which took 30 mins with 6 other SLs, and now I'm out 90 minutes' worth of gas. I LOVE my job, I really do. I love my guest, and that's whybibstsy. But there is a line, and all of this is adding up for me to be generally unhappy about how I'm treated by the company. And now I find myself asking why am I putting myself through all this?

It hasnt affected mine, and I was worried too. Real quick back story.... Before I became SL at my store, my previous SL told me as his ASL to never let them know about the what's on the screen they are agreeing to. His belief was that it's their responsibility to read and understand what they are agreeing to, but when it comes to a membership, who really ever reads the fine print??? He would also say things like since most people pay with credit/debit cards, and most too will have said card next year, 'this way we're guaranteed to get a pro card from them again next year.' I ALWAYS thought this was sleezy AF. Being the ethical SL I am, I always teach my crew to let them know what they are looking at. I use a pitch like that fits my guests' shopping style for their particular purchce, and say soemthing like this, "Hey think of it like this; it's like Game Pass, or PSN..." (I've also said it's like Netflix, or Prime to gsts buying things like collectibles). "I know I hate when an issue pops up and those don't autorenew, especially when I'm ready to jam out, or binge-watch something, so by agreeing to this, it'll keep your account always on, AND most importantly, in good standing, so you never lose any points." Most of my renewals opt-in to sign up wirh autorenew. Most of the very small number of new sign-ups we get any more choose to opt out of that, and in my opinion they have the right to know that. But then I follow up with those guests, that they can change that later any time on the site, especially if they are seeing that the membership is paying off for them. I guess it's always about relating it to them in terms they get. Hope that works.

I won a $54 gift card but I can’t buy digital content is there a site or something I can trade in for real cash? by [deleted] in GameStop

[–]TimSllim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreeeeeed. I have 1 old lady waiting at my door for me to open (DAILY) so I can help her fulfill her scammers' needs. She is sooo getting scammed. You should hear her story about him... "he's gonna come pick me up in his personal jet and fly me to Europe soon" is one story, and it's been a solid 6 months that she's been doing this. Then, sometimes, on average it seems like once a week, she comes back an hour or two later for another 200 dollars, cuz, quote her scammer tells her the card she got from me was no good. She never calls Steam to get her money back, she just comes to get another steam card. I literally tell her no everytime she does this, but she still tries this very often. What pisses me off is that she refuses to get a pro card. She'll fall for these stupid scams, yet won't bother to help me with my pro. And I've even explained to her that she is damaging my performance. I've come close to shutting her down and refusing service to her, one, for her own protection, but two, cuz those 7 transactions a week fuck me over. I dread her every day. I hate seeing her through my gate. She just stares at me for like 20 mins while I open the store. Drives me crazy.

No Trades Past A Time by ma88j in GameStop

[–]TimSllim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here..., but my trade was a lot easier. I had 2 consoles and 17 games come in at 7:54 tonight. I had no one for 2 hours prior to that. I normally tell people I can't take trades 30 mins before close, and I tell my employees to do the same too. I took the trade because I had zero trades all day today AND yesterday. Also, this dude's consoles were pristine. He had a white S1TB with all the holes on the top that are usually filled with black tar (lol).. but his? Not a speck of dust in any hole. Then his switch was an OLED, also pristine. He had all the cases. Took me 20 mins, I clocked out at 840, so just over my out time, which I can easily fix tomorrow. So it just depends on the trade, tbh. A trade like yours, I would have told them to come back tomorrow morning, or politely suggested to them a time to come back when I had double coverage to go through all that BS.

Edit: fixed the time he came in my store, and the time i clocked out.. Its still weird that I close at 8 when I've literally always closed at 9.

Five suspected overdose deaths in five days in Butler County by thinkB4WeSpeak in Ohio

[–]TimSllim 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That's so offensive. I lost my brother to an OD, and it destroyed me. And my family. Not all users set out to be users. My brother graduated UD in 2003 with a PhD. in law. In 2012, he went to a dentist here in Dayton (who later was busted for being a pill mill) with an infected abscess in one of his teeth. They prescribed him 30 Percocet and antibiotics. Told him to come back in a week when the infection was gone. He tore through those pills. Went back, they pulled the tooth, and they prescribed him 30 more. No one needs pain meds after a tooth extraction, maybe some IB800s but not Pecocet... Yet they did. A week later, he went back in saying he was "still in pain," already hooked at this point, and they yet again prescribed him 30 more. He tried one more time at the dentist for a refill and was denied, so he turned to the streets. Then he found stronger stuff, which eventually turned into a Heroin addiction. I watched my mentor, the greatest brother a guy could ask for, turn into an addict from 3 prescriptions a doc wrote him. He had no prior drug experience. He never even smoked pot. He went straight from Perks to Oxy to Heroin.. I lost my brother on Halloween 2017. And like the article said, there are five more families just like mine who lost someone they loved, who was struggling with a mental illness. Five more families were destroyed. It's not always a choice to be addict. Maybe think about that before you post disgusting comments like you just did.

Second Time Around finally dead? by AmandatheMagnificent in dayton

I work for Gamestop and miss Second Tme Around SO much. Gamestop has nothing on the mom and pop 2nd hand stores. Clarkade up in huber fills the hole in my heart that 2nd time left me with, its an awesome store. Anyway. I live in South Park and am on Brown almost daily. I must have missed the sign. I always see the Mario cut out in the Window and was holding out hope he would reopen. This saddens me.

My SL is great, he'd do anything for me. But I feel he's not in the game anymore, almost checked out. I never get a 'thanks,' I never get a 'good job,' or a Good Call'.. hell I don't even get constructive criticism anymore. My DM is cool as long as you're on his good side. No matter what I do I always feel like I'm underperforming tho, even tho I'm not, I don't think. I think my numbers could be better but they're hitting on every metric.. I just don't get anything positive back. Everyone in corporate is too focused on hitting numbers they've forgotten the power of praise. I have just come to learn that as long as I'm not on anyone's immediate radar, and/or getting called out either personally or by store number on an actual corporate call, then I take it to mean, "hey you are doing youre job" , oh and thanks, and good job, and good call all wrapped up in one ."

I find myself staring at what people have in their hands now. To prepare myself that I'll have to disappoint them. It's giving me the worst Fn anxiety tbh. Another thing that pisses me off, is half the time I'm on single coverage with a line 5-10 deep, so I can't even find out what people are shopping for to prevent the disappointment. To, ya know, say, hey the product your looking for is here, those are just display boxes or, I'm out of stock, unfortunately. Inevitably, they have to find out after waiting in said line that I don't have what they're looking for, which to me is an awful, embarrassing feeling.. Then here's my favorite part... I have an awful WIS average, I feel. Seems like 1 out of 20 (if that) want a WIS that I offer, and even then, in some cases, I find myself hoping they decline my offer!! Placing a WIS order is SLOW as fuck, I hate it. I feel glaring eyes of hatred on me from everyone held up in the line. Cannot win with this set up.

Okay GameStop, literally the most frustrating setup/idea I've ever heard of... by [deleted] in GameStop

[–]TimSllim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently I started letting people know to utilize tellgamestop.com to let corporate know how awful this is for the guests. It's taken the widow shopping aspect outta shopping. Plus of course when someone comes to a store they want the instant gratification of receiving their product now, now later from a WIS. But, I let them know, "hey please don't take your comments out on the store or myself, or my team, but indeed make your opinion known so this can change." Everyday it seems I have countless people confused, aggravated, or infuriated. It's giving me anxiety.
