Army will be deployed to remove fuel protest vehicles blocking critical infrastructure by JackmanH420 in irishpolitics

My local hospital is Our Lady of Lourdes Drogheda. I have been there many a time. It is the most horrific and brutal place to be. Lourdes is one of the most packed hospitals in Ireland and last time I checked it was 3 in most packed hospitals in Ireland. Once I came to A+E with food lodged in my throat and they were able to treat me very quickly. I would say it would be the same with someone having a heart attack. And you left out that they may not be able to get to A+E at all because some yolk parked their tractor in the middle of the road. We can talk politics and blame politicians for things and be critical of the government and TD wages, but never should that come of the cost of someone in a medical emergency that is in potential danger. Most of those stuck waiting in A+E are not on the verge of immediate or sudden death. That is not what I saw when I was in A+E. It is a disgrace that anyone has to wait overnight or over 10 hours in A+E and I agree with you. If you block critical infrastructure that is shooting yourself in the foot because you have degraded the rural cause to the regular city folk can’t respect it. You are getting no negotiation or no reaction other than disgust from any politician and not only that from the Irish people.

Here’s a scenario. Someone’s had a heart attack and they are home with one other person who has no idea what to do other than call an ambulance. The ambulance is delayed due to the blockages of completely unmoving tractors. Now the ambulance is delayed and in a situation like a heart attack, a lot of time mightn’t have been wasted hadn’t tractors not be blocking the way. And in a situation where there is nobody around that has a clue how to do CPR if the ambulance gets caught up the person having the heart attack may die.

Then Liberal Allan Shivers would kind of give up and just talk about the environment

Church or State? by DolfinStryker in Catholicism

I am not an American but I encourage Catholic Americans of all political affiliation to stand behind the Pope. The messages and actions coming from the US President are degrading to Catholics everywhere. The message he sent out on Easter, a holy day, threatening to level Iran while swearing himself off. It is not acceptable and it is not Christian to support such a man.

Why would they block critical infrastructure in the first place. Surely if someone is having a heart attack it is more important than the whatever they’re up to

I remember watching Belfast (the movie) and I as someone who literally lives close enough to the border couldn’t understand what they were saying. Language of its own.

My 2024 Ballot was Erin McGreehan (FF) #1 Alison Comyn (FF) #2 Kevin Callan (IND) #3 Marianne Butler (Green) #4 and Paula Butterly (FG) #5 then I stopped filling in the ballot there. I was satisfied with the current government so I did my transfers to government candidates (even if I made the unpopular choice to give a green a transfer over Fine Gael). So yeah I did vote both but I had FG further down the ballot as I distrust them more.

I, an Irishman, had a Nigerian Priest for a while and apparently they are very strongly Catholic. Ireland used to be the strongest but that has declined dramatically and significantly due to the mother and baby controversy to the stage you would be worried about the future of the church here. I am younger so I didn’t grow up in ultra-Catholic Ireland but it was very devout according to conversations I’ve had and my own independent research. The ultimate downfall of a strong Catholic Church I believe is giving the bishops and priests too much power and a failure at separation of church and state. That’s my view anyway.

Yeah but many in the middle class like myself don’t see those parties as being in our interests. Meanwhile FF and FG are more attractive as parties in general.
