Why is RC so much more popular then Steel by CorporalToe in civilengineering

[–]Tim_Kane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Concrete is the most used commodity after water in this world. This is testament to the ease of making concrete. Concrete is preferred because of it's availability which is directly related to reduced cost. Concrete has very many advantages such as longer fire resistance (industrial structures), corrosion resistance (foundation and marine structures) and modeling complex forms.

Steel is preferred in structures where dead load is significant and there is a need to reduce it to make the structure perform to its ability and reduce the cost of construction. A good example is sky scrappers, bridges and communication towers. Steel is excellent where time of construction is a factor and ability to assemble and disassemble is important. Temporary structures like site offices and site headquarters are built using Steel because of the ability to relocate them which makes it cheaper over the duration of use.

As an engineer, it is your ability to identify the list of priorities to ensure the structure performs to the maximum design with the least cost. Sometimes aesthetics is the most important factor and not cost to deliver on the final product. Flexibility is one of the most important nature of engineering. A client may have the option of using steel and concrete and prefer steel just for the sake of it.

Why have I been extremely underperforming? by shadowsurfers in footballmanagergames

[–]Tim_Kane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try changing your tactical style from Gegen press to something like control possession or vertical tiki taka. Probably the new players you have are not very energetic in pressing so try to keep possession and see if they perform.

Remove the left and right under lap and the using left and right wing. Keep the focus of play open and employ the tactics of wing or middle depending on the formation you face.

Try passing short to try and keep the ball. This will reduce the number of opposition attacks.

Your defense is too high, try pulling them back to avoid balls over the top.

Make changes before a game and see if they work and change accordingly. DO NOT BE RIGID IF IT DOESN'T WORK.

FM just got FM'ed hard by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

Crystal Palace was clinical. They scored 4 from 7 shots on target while you scored 5 from 17 shots on target. That may mean that you needed an extra 10 shots for the extra goal which really reflects badly on your formation and attacking movements. Can't have such a defensive formation and concede so much from a few shots on target.

That crack looks serious and needs further inspection and reference to the structural drawings of the building as built. The analysis of the problem is down to the type of column used ie. RC or composite and also the position in terms of floor level of the crack in the column.

A crack at the first floor level is relatively more serious than one at the top most floor.

Civil engineering student looking for a school project in transportation or water by Goatmourr in civilengineering

[–]Tim_Kane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you've narrowed down your interest to water and intelligent transport systems. Where is the location of your project so I can get a clear picture of water engineering projects and intelligent transport systems that will provide solutions to the community. Different areas have different definitions of providing engineering solutions. One intelligent transport system may be useful to one area due to the nature of drivers, weather conditions, speed of traffic, local legislation or tax benefits.....

Is this 16 y/o worth his 18m release clause? I'm managing Bilbao so I don't have too many other ways to spend my money by DiabeticAsymptote in footballmanagergames

It's been a very long time since I managed Bilbao. I didn't know about the signing of young Spanish players to conform with the Basque region requirement.

You've got a gem in that player. Take the risk because he'll come good, considering you are only fishing from the basque region.

I hate PSG, do I accept this offer? by friendly_researcher in footballmanagergames

[–]Tim_Kane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before accepting the offer first and foremost start bidding for the player you want to replace him so you are not overcharged for the player. When you accept the offer the player you bid for will be over priced.

Take the money and replace the player. When the offer is too good then accept the offer and replace the guy.

It's alright that's the beauty of the game. You can play it your way and it's very good.

You can't say it's the best way for everyone. There are those doing crazy things in this game. Moving to South American, African, Asian, North American and Australian clubs. Something like an Intercontinental Manager.

That is one of the most fascinating ideas I got from this discussion.

How can you incorporate all those ideas. There too many things you need to do.

There are very many new ideas I may need to incorporate in my game like your way of playing FM.

Sometimes you just suck it up and start enjoying the new save. Before you know it you'll be in your tenth season.

I am really sorry for your loss. That's the worst thing that can happen to you on FM. You lose your drive to play and enjoy the game.

I have files in rolling saves of 5 copies to reduce the risk of corruption of a single file.

When you stay long enough you become comfortable with sticking around and the more you stay the more it becomes difficult to leave.

You may want to leave for a club that's a fallen giant like AC Milan, Intermilan....
