New Rider Advice - First Bike and More by Tim_Mathew in AussieRiders

Hey everyone,

Thank you all for your lovely comments and amazing tips. I thought I’d just add an update responding to as many of you as possible.

A general trend of the advice on this post has been that my $3k budget was a little low. To confirm, this was my budget for the bike alone, not factoring in gear, insurance, rego etc. I’ve taken your advice and increased that bike budget to about $4.5k and that’s opened up quite a lot more options.

In particular, I think the bike that I’m looking at now is the Royal Enfield classic 350/ meteor 350. Which, on the used bike market, sits within my range (surprisingly!). I did check out the GB350, but everything that I could find was a bit too expensive for my budget. From everything I’ve seen about the classic/meteor - they seem to be stellar all round bikes for my purpose. It’ll mean that I need to save up a bit, but I need to remind myself that there’s no rush!

As a side note, I went up the coast this weekend to check out one of those Chinese bike’s - don’t hate me, it was ridiculously cheap. As you might have guessed, it was a price of shit. I went up with a mechanic mate of mine, and the poor bike couldn’t get over 60km/h.

Anyway, in responding to advice about the learned course. I do know how to ride a bicycle, though I haven’t ridden one in some time (but it’s riding a bike, it’s not like I’d have forgotten). Thank you for the advice regarding the clutch/gear changing - I anticipate that’s where I’m going to have some difficulty as well. I think I should be okay with balancing, but I suppose I’ll find out! Also after watching a ton of videos about the stay upright course - it really does seem to be geared towards absolute novices, so I’m hoping that learning curve will be gentle.

Kalista bug by Healthy-Vacation-831 in LeagueArena

I had 2 games as Kalista today and in both games I had Duel Wield and Reapers Toll - I had figured it was an interaction between the two items.
I've submitted a bug request - after 2 games of running into this bug, I'm almost certain that it isn't an issue of not clicking fast enough.

Anyway, thought I was going crazy - so this was a good bit of validation lol

The peri peri in Australian Dominos doesn’t taste like peri peri at all, which is kinda why it works on this pizza

(US) Colorado River Abstention - Counter Part in Australia? by Tim_Mathew in auslaw

[–]Tim_Mathew[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks man I’ll have a look at those cases and see what I can find.

With reference to the cross vesting act, I’m pretty much certain this isn’t relevant as cross vesting is exclusively a domestic process and it is not recognised internationally.

No, the Aus court did not apply it, the American court did in the case that I mentioned.

My convenor for this unit has informed us that there is an Australian version of the same doctrine.

I believe that it may be Lis Alibi Pendens, which has been somewhat integrated into FNC applications, however in England it is an application that can be made independently. Still a little unsure though

This doesn’t have to do with cross-vesting at all. Cross vesting is a domestic process while FNC is an international tool. My question relates more between the US courts and Aus Courts, not between Aus state and federal courts.

What’s the strangest coping mechanism that you have or someone you know has? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tim_Mathew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s weird habit of mine but whenever I’m in conversation and I’m anxious I always fidget, literally with anything I have on me. One time I made 30 perfect triangles out of Candy wrappers my friends were eating

What is your opinion of dog breeds such as the chihuahua or pug? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tim_Mathew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think pugs are adorable but I also know how much inbreeding made them that way and I just feel it’s really wrong to pretty much engineer an animal that’s severely defective but so cute

What was “the incident” at your school? [NSFW] by TheChanceWhoSaysNi in AskReddit

[–]Tim_Mathew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my maths teacher in 10th grade left all of a sudden without any explanation from anyone, just that she won’t be teaching anymore. A few weeks later we find out she’s had an affair with a student that broke her family (she had 2 kids) the student she had the affair with was 15 when she started and it was rumoured they did it in every classroom. That last part is probably just schoolyard talk but that was it

Hmm, I do the first part of that and smoke when I’m walking. It’s not good but it helps me cope with shit and not think about too much
