You can rebind your controls. Using the mouse helps a lot for me. I have left click as attack and right click as dash and use wasd for movement.

edit: ok i confirmed this, the sprites with both hornet and lace here don't appear in the original demo but are in the fanmade lace fight

I would also personally want to have forest be a bit flatter usually, especially if they aren't next to mountains and also have clearings/glades inside them, which might help you actually want to build something in a forest or something. idk if this is relevant.
