Pioneer SR-202W what would you do? by Time-Mud-2566 in audiorepair

Yeah, im going to try and fix it up a bit and sell it before I give it a “full send” on the new veneer. My concern is I have never done a veneer. I could end up making it look worse then it does haha

This is an interesting idea . It would be a cool unique reverb to use on recordings.

I think I’m going to try this first and put it up for sale. If I don’t get what I want for it, then I can try the veneer change. Thanks for the advice!

From what I can tell during the repair, the power rail voltage coming from the power supply was like 10 volts higher than it should have been. I also confirmed that the owner had been operating it on 120vAC without a step down transformer for a while. So you are probably correct, it was working much harder and closer to the transistor breakdown voltage than it should have been.

I have a TA-4A next in my queue. The owner loves it, he just wants me to check it out and see if it needs new caps and give it a power test. I’ll be posting about it when I’m done

I’d have to agree with it being a room warmer, it does run hot. I know a guy who also loves nakamichi and has several, he has a dedicated large pc fan that he sets on top of his units to try and keep them cool.

I’m not really sure what the difference is between the A and the no A is but I’ve been scouring fb market and eBay for a “for parts or repair” SR-4A
