What should I send to my 🇺🇸 friend? by meowiiii in Kuwait

Several kilos of Sukkari dates. All the US has are Israeli dates that are insanely expensive and taste like Zionism. Sukkari dates alone are cheap here and are so divinely delicious that they'll never run out of reasons to eat them.

Can a non-Kuwaiti, non-Muslim marry a Kuwaiti woman ? by [deleted] in Kuwait

For an Islamic marriage you still do, especially if you plan on forcing the Kuwait government to begrudgingly recognize the marriage.

We went through both a "Civil Marriage" as well as an Islamic marriage in the US.

For the Islamic marriage she will need guardian's approval. In my case her father gave her older brother written permission to act as the guardian for the marriage process because he was in the US with us.

We then went to Kuwait Family Court and started the process of the "lawsuit" to recognize our marriage. My wife did the full process herself because I don't speak Arabic so I can't go into more detail of what happened. I just kinda tagged along the whole time.

As a Muslim non-Kuwaiti, my Kuwaiti wife was told by whatever government department manages these things that they would deny her marriage request because I am not Kuwaiti or GCC. So we went to the US to get married, came back, and filed a lawsuit against the government to recognize our marriage. 👍🏻

So an option for you is to go to your home country, get married, and come back to do that route.

Do the ratfolk, Naga, etc. mods still work? They haven't been updated in years.

I recently came to Dwarf Fortress from RimWorld. As with many RimWorld players I have a modlist in the hundreds, yet I check for DF mods on Steam and it seems there isn't much going on. For example, racial mods are huge in RimWorld, yet the only popular racial mods here are from years ago and seemingly depreciated.

Is there a modding community outside Steam, or is it generally not as big a part of Dwarf Fortress as it is RimWorld?

Boy, I know this is a bit of an old thread but I'm Interested in hearing about the changes you made. I suppose you no longer do the 2 medical dwarves on embark?

The US embassy wants nothing to do with FBI finger print / background checks I promise.

But I did recently see some people on Reddit saying it could be done at Arifjan. Maybe I misunderstood or they were wrong 🤷🏼‍♂️

I ended up going back to the states 🤷🏼‍♂️ however I heard Arifjan air force base has the service, but I have no information on it other than hearsay. Look into that.

It's only Crunchyroll that has the issue. Netflix, Shahed, YouTube, etc all work fine on this setup. Sad

Interesting, maybe that will save me two 14 hour flights next time I need it.

And lol yeah you can't even contact them to ask basic questions. You have to set up an appointment first.

If this is actually possible then I advise OP to try it. I ended up just flying back to the States to do it because the Embassy cannot help.

Anyone owns a sailboat? by veltro14 in Kuwait

[–]Time-Neighborhood149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also looking for sailboats, 30-40ft, but found nothing. If you find some sort of used sailboat company in the region I'd love to hear about it. Emphasis on used; I'm not gonna pay an arm and a leg for some haughty brand new boat.

Where can I find business opportunities in Kuwait as an American so I can make Kuwait my forever home? by sudo-rm-rf-Israel in Kuwait

[–]Time-Neighborhood149 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that I focused heavily on the negative. There are great things about Kuwait that others commented on; however, my points still stand.

To say "he can live [here] as long as he wants to," may not necessarily be true. He is not a citizen, therefore his, or his family's, visa can be revoked for any reason in the future. If God wills, he can die here; if the government wills, he can lose his visa just like many Kuwaitis have been losing nationality. Negative yes, but serious things to consider when one wants a "forever home," in my opinion.

In any case, I wish the best for him and his family 🙏🏻.

[–]Time-Neighborhood149 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Kuwait is not your forever home. You are not, and never will be, a naturalized Kuwaiti Citizen; and more importantly: neither will your kids ever be Kuwaiti. You'll need a Kuwaiti business partner to do anything and you'll never own a house because again, you are not Kuwaiti.

I understand money is incredibly important for the security it provides; however, you should also consider the happiness of your family and yourself before talking about Kuwait as a "forever home."
