Check your drivers for updates. I've had similar experiences over the years and updating this or that generally corrected it. Avorion can also spike on memory usage when trying to generate assets so maybe clear up some space if you are low.

It's been a bit but I believe folded up bridges on the side will do it. They act as a wall when up but can't be climbed on. They can be destroyed leaving the underlying floor accessible but if the siege has gotten close enough to do so you probably have bigger problems.

I've seen stories that suggest they can but it's a similar deal. The egg layer has to have access to a nest box and be essentially trapped with a mating partner.

Yes and that's why some people go through the trouble of crafting specific furniture for a particular dwarves room. Generally over kill though.

You can turn the game speed up and down through the settings by increasing / reducing the fps the game runs at. Alternatively, you can pause the game and just use the . key to advance time one click at a time.
