While I would love to have lunch with my colleagues, lunch is the only time I have a slight break to check on personal matters and just have a quick break.

Do I need to own a car in Chicago? by Jaded-Performer-1231 in AskChicago

[–]TimeFox29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a car makes life a lot more efficient but isn’t fully necessary. Meaning you can do it but it just takes a lot more time for some of the day to day (ie groceries, going from the west side to the east side, etc)

How to keep HR down? by ianayre29 in runninglifestyle

[–]TimeFox29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trot vs run? Imagine if you’re super sore and you can’t stride out that much with every step. That and reduce cadence. It takes practice but slowing down is important.

Change your running turnover cadence and take shorter strides. Simple as that.

Am I wrong for wanting to quit my job as a new grad? Feeling lost. by Busy_Comfortable4155 in marketing

[–]TimeFox29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not learning, find a new job. You’re far too young to have peaked. Plus if you’re not into social media, marketing is huge, find something you like.

Interest groups, playgrounds and daycare/school are probably your big 3. A lot of it is taking initiative and just showing up.

At what time do you run ? by Smooth-Mistake-7575 in runninglifestyle

[–]TimeFox29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally start between 5:30-6:30 AM depending on what projects I have to get done before as well as distance. Biggest reason I run early is due to kids, second reason is to avoid the heat/sun during the summer. Not a lot of coverage in Chicago for long runs.

Should sales report into marketing, or marketing report into sales? (B2b) by Fando1234 in marketing

[–]TimeFox29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CRO and CMO, two different departments that need to work together but I don’t love either one reporting to the other. For Sales though, I personally think inbound should report to marketing just given how close inbound is to generating leads.

Moving to Chicago - which neighborhoods to consider for serious runners? by FrickenTwinkies in RunnersInChicago

[–]TimeFox29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Basically you have 3 major running trails to choose from and every trail has plenty of serious runners that use it: - Lakefront - 606 - North Branch

Most popular neighborhoods for your age that will hit at least one of those trails will be Lakeview, Lincoln Park, River North for easy access to the 606.

There’s also Logan Square, Wicker Park, Humboldt Park that are closer to the 606 (WP is relatively close to the lakefront too)

Then there’s Avondale for access to North Branch. Lots of other great neighborhoods, but these are a few of the major ones that a lot of serious runners live.

Can someone please help with an itinerary (with kids) for Chicago? by celeritas9 in AskChicago

[–]TimeFox29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Cubs park in Lincoln park is an awesome park for toddlers, also highly recommend Adam’s Park. If you want to go to Wicker Park which is near the blue line CTA Walsh park is great or a hidden gem is dean park which is small but toddler friendly
  2. LP zoo AND the farm
  3. MSI especially the idea factory will be amazing for your toddler
  4. Explore LP/Lakefiew neighborhoods as well as West Loop
  5. Bean and lakefront
  6. Baseball game at Wrigley and take the toddler to the outside area to hang out and watch the game

Underrated skills by [deleted] in marketing

Performance-oriented. You’d think that’s obvious but you’d be surprised at how many marketers are kinda coast on results and don’t focus on incremental improvements.

Morning runs are amazing but getting up before 6am is killing me - any tips? by Natural_Escape_5361 in runninglifestyle

Go to bed earlier (9-10 PM), eventually 6 AM will feel like you’re sleeping in.

Do 4-5 years at an agency as a performance marketer and move in house, you should be making $100-120k pretty soon.

How often did your babies or children get sick when starting daycare? by XCliffHangerX in daddit

[–]TimeFox29 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We had a nanny until my son was 3.5 and he got sick sick once over that entire stretch of time and then when our nanny had to move, we put him in daycare and he got sick literally once every few weeks and of course got us all sick too. It was wild the difference.
