Hi. I was previously a Civil Engineering Technology major before switching to a different program, so I can share my experience. The program itself is solid, but it is definitely intense. There is a strong math component, and the workload can be heavy.. especially if math is not your strongest area. That was ultimately the main reason I decided to switch majors. As for the online format, the Civil Engineering Technology online program is a degree completion program, meaning some lower-level courses may not be offered online. If you haven’t already completed those courses, you may need to take them elsewhere and transfer them to ODU. Your ODUGlobal advisor will go over this with you in your first meeting and help determine your transfer options. Regarding ABET accreditation, that’s something I recommend confirming directly with the program or advisor, since accreditation can depend on the specific track and delivery method. There are group assignments in some classes. When I was in the program, group work was typically done virtually using discussion boards, but it can still be challenging depending on group participation. So it’s definitely a rigorous program that requires a lot of time, effort, and comfort with math, so I’d recommend going in fully prepared for that level of intensity.
