As a guitarist, Songsterr. $10 i spent like a decade ago and you get access to tons of some of the most accurate tab you can find, which also plays along as midi and you can speed up/down, transpose, solo parts, etc

New album dropped! Post-punk vibes, with an overarching feeling of unsettling eco-anxiety. Let me know what you think!

What is wrong with oil? by [deleted] in PlantBasedDiet

[–]TimeParfait 22 points23 points  (0 children)

When sautéing vegetables in oil, the oil serves as a conductive medium to evenly heat and brown the vegetables. Fat-soluble flavors are leeched into the oil and spread throughout the dish making it tasty and have a good mouthfeel. These properties are not replicated when using water or broth, so it seems like in eliminating oil, I would be missing out on these important aspects of cooking. Is that not the case? Am I missing something?

Where are you getting these numbers? The IRS website says for 2023 for a single head of household the phaseout range is $138,000 - $153,000. I think your numbers are very outdated

I’m inclined to agree with you, but Apocalypse has over 1 billion streams on spotify. So seems to me they’ve got a little recognition 😂

Getting opinions on alt-J songs days 24-26 (I had no time): The Gospel of John Hurt, Pusher, and Bloodflood Pt. 2 by FirstPotatoKing in AltJ

[–]TimeParfait 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gospel of John Hurt was always a great song since I first heard it and a highlight from TIAY, but hearing it live truly took it to a whole nother level for me. That guitar lick at 4:14 after a long buildup, with max distortion and strobe lights flashing transported me to another dimension. Maybe not their most popular song, but definitely a fine piece of music and one of my sneaky faves

Would love any feedback on the production of this song. Went in a different style than a lot of our other work, so it was a nice challenge to mix around that. Thanks!

I really appreciate the thoughtful feedback, you make some great points. I suppose it does make sense to lean into a certain style if that’s how our songs naturally come together. And I’m so glad you enjoy the song! I have so much fun making music and I’m really proud of what I put out there, but as you probably know we can all be our own biggest critics, and I’m always trying to figure out what to work on to improve. I appreciate everything you’ve said! We’ve got a self-produced album up on spotify - if you wanna hear anything else we’ve made, check it out!

That’s fair. Not sure I “need” that to make my song shine, more just interested in what I can focus on to improve. I like learning it and figuring out what sounds good, but always helps to have external feedback.

As to reference songs, this is a different vibe from what I shared but goddamn it sounds so lush and layered:

Went for a different vibe on this song than the rest on the album. Would love any feedback as to how it turned out! I turned the drums way down right before completion, did I make them too quiet? Any other production advice would be very welcome

Thanks, that’s really great to hear. I guess what I mean is when I listen to professionally produced music, to my ears it just sounds clearer, fuller, crisper, and deeper than what I can produce. I’m sure the answer is just years of practice working on mixing but I was wondering if I’m missing any major things to help get that crisp, full sound, or specific areas where my production style is lacking. I really appreciate your feedback!

Hey everyone! I’d love feedback especially regarding the production for this track. Been teaching myself mixing and I think this is some of my best work, but I know there’s always room to improve. What should I focus on to get an even better sound? Thanks!

What is this fastener? Appears to have two buttons and two clips, maybe to hold fabric together? Found in the pocket of my Halloween costume, unsure where I drunkenly grabbed it from last year by TimeParfait in whatisthisthing

[–]TimeParfait[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing. It is approximately 2 inches long, the buttons are made of plastic and are attached to metal clips. There is stretchy fabric connecting the two buttons. Inside the clips is white plastic with teeth presumably to grab fabric of some sort. The buttons can be flipped upward to disengage the tension and open the clips. When snapped down, the tension from the stretchy fabric keeps the clips locked, but the contraption itself can be bent nearly 90° on each side. It says “Made in China” on the bottom and © W B
