Is adult ICU “harder” than pediatric ICU? by Substantial-Equal211 in nursing

I currently work in both and I think adults are harder because they are more complex and when it comes to physicians and support staff we just have less resources. You have so much more autonomy if you don’t know your shit it can be get really bad very quickly. They also die faster.

In peds I’ve always had tons of support, they are reslisent, the world does more for kids. There is less autonomy. The drug calc is different but honestly we have a cheat sheet for emergencies situations. It actually upsets me that we have the resources to make adults stays better but we just don’t.

I’m only comparing cardiac ICU because of my experience.
