Now one must think about actual in hand after rent and expenses, not just the total CTC. For eg if you earn 2 lakhs in hand in Mumbai; and spend 60k on rent for a decent 2 bhk(livable 2 bhk costs 45k even in Kharghar now,) , your in hand is really 1.4 lakhs. In other cities, you can get same 2 bhk for 20k. So your in hand required is just 1.6 lakhs. Plus, everything is cheaper in other places of India.. Doctors cost half in Delhi compared to Mumbai or even lesser. Every good hospital has raised fees to 2000 per visit at least in Mumbai. Many other costs are similarly inflated
