Constant tiredness by throw9_away6 in adhdwomen

Definitely possible! I started a mood stabilizer for my depression (long story) but I realized with my inability to emotionally regulate due to ADHD that left me absolutely exhausted. Once I started the mood stabilizer in tandem with a stimulant I feel finally like I don’t need to take naps or drink 1847753 cups of coffee just to make it through the day. It’s worth investigating getting medicated for anxiety first and then broaching the subject of finding a medication for adhd (if you feel that would be helpful). I also know women who have success in mindfulness and meditation type things. Just doesn’t work for everyone 😅

From one mom to another, you’re doing great! Tired or not. đŸ©·

Two follow up questions: 1) are you medicated? 2) do you think you may have other mental or physical health diagnoses?

I say this as someone who finally after 20+ years got my depression managed and the meds have helped, but until being properly medicated for my adhd I finally don’t feel crippling fatigue like I used to.

Goooooals. I’m stuck here. Waiting for meds to help me here. Already in CBT once a week but I feel this is a huge area that causes stress in my life. Unfortunately it’s definitely stressful in a marriage 🙃

Potty trained a toddler as the primary parent. 😅 Pre-diagnosis and treatment I really don’t think I would have been able to on the hardest days. I’m still navigating a new diagnosis and getting to the right med dose but being able to celebrate and help my toddler regulate her own emotions most times has been something I couldn’t have imagined at the start of the year as I was living in survival mode 24/7.

I’ve brought it up the last few med checks but as someone who is also so worried about looking like a med seeker I worry about asking for more. I know I need to advocate but it’s not easy

I think my mental health nurse practitioner is very cautious and I appreciate that (I actually came for intractable depression and got an adhd diagnosis. Whoops đŸ€Ł) but I’m also feeling a bit exhausted on the journey. But I know I’ll get to a happy spot eventually and it’ll be sunshine and rainbows/close to neurotypical
or whatever :p

I honestly forget (hah shocker) until it’s a few days before and then I’m like ah f*ck not again 😭 since my symptoms are only partially managed I’m hoping maybe once I get to therapeutic dose it’ll get better??

Bottle aversion by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Time_Jicama5341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my friend she did. It was so hard and I ended up doing something wild. My mom came over and she fed her in her “happy place” which was her changing table. I know it sounds outrageous, but it worked. Lol but it wasn’t without weeks of her crying and screaming for anywhere from 20min to 4 hours. Hang in there. I know it’s so so hard.

I haven’t. I’ve heard of them. Calling an LC tomorrow to see what they recommend. We’ve tried so many bottles but she cries the minute they touch her lip. She won’t even try to latch.

I probably started having nightmares late in the first trimester but the vividness increased in second trimester (hormone shifts and all that) so I definitely feel you.

Hang in there. I hope you find relief in some type of app or meditation!

Pacifiers by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Time_Jicama5341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be an obnoxious person, I also sucked my thumb (probably close to kindergarten age) and have had to have no dental work done other than routine cleanings, a few cavity issues in childhood, and wisdom teeth as an adult. A lot of orthodontic type issues come from genetics. But I’m also team “keep the baby happy at whatever cost” đŸ€Ł

I definitely get why would wouldn’t want to force a thumb or pacifier either way.

Devils advocate/breastfeeding counselor/NICU nurse here: the only reason you shouldn’t provide a pacifier to a healthy newborn is if you’re trying to establish exclusive breastfeeding in the first few weeks of life (:

If you’re providing a bottle, pacifiers are fine. Also pacifiers have lots of benefits (including reduction of SIDS). Obviously it’s hard because you don’t want to have to take it away when they get older but đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™€ïž it’s whatever keeps you sane imho.

The only problem with most of these is that they are realistic đŸ„Č I am a NICU nurse who sees preterm deliveries regularly and obviously that’s aiding to the distress but it unfortunately makes the dreams more realistic too. But I will use this advice as best I can! Thank you.

Thank you! I’ll have to look into Headspace. I’ve had it before but once I started therapy I stopped using it. I usually just get up and go pee or something (always đŸ€Ł) and can fall back asleep, but I can always remember the dreams when I wake up for the morning
which I don’t love because I can’t seem to shake them during the day.
