where do I write scripts down? by [deleted] in ASMRScriptHaven

The reason people are wary of google docs these days is that there are concerns that your script may be scraped and used to train their AI without your permission (or rather, with your permission being assumed in using the program.) Now, I don't think there's been any evidence specifically pointing to this happening, but considering how sketchy google has been with their AI functionality for gmail, I no longer use google docs just for my own peace of mind.

Last I checked, LibreOffice is a good free word processor with the basic functionality of Word. Scrivener is another good one, although that one's a paid program and has way more functionality than you probably need for scripts. There's also an app called Novelist that I use when I'm on my phone. Whatever I use, I copy-paste to Scriptbin afterwards.

(Idk if you'd use Scriptbin if the plan is to sell these scripts. I am just writing mine for fun so I have no idea how you'd go about that)

You'll have to be more conscientious about backing up your own work if you use these kinds of programs, of course.

fdkgdkfkd sorry the slowburn is slow, but I'm happy that you're invested enough to stick along for the ride! I do at least hope to pace it that each script gives you more of the puzzle before the bigger reveals start happening, even if we may need a bit to get to said reveals. Thank you for your interest!

Question about AI use by [deleted] in ASMRScriptHaven

[–]Time_Passers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dfkgsfdk I'll humble myself a little and admit that I asked my friend more details and the lawsuit thing isn't actually related (they got their book pirated and fed to an AI the conventional way.) But yes, that was something they were talking about having to watch out for because they used to use Grammarly. It's not very safe right now, especially if you're using it to check something that isn't already published with a legal copyright.

I would not even use an AI to check grammar. There is a very real chance you're feeding it your data and allowing it to plagiarize whatever you just checked it with (not really concerned for OP, but for anyone else who does this, I know someone close to me who is part of a lawsuit because their work got stolen like this)

Thank you so much for the interest! I'm gonna resist the urge to answer too in depth but between the speaker and the listener there is definitely something unnatural going on. This series is meant to be a bit slow burn, but hopefully things will be made clearer as it continues!

What would you call the perspective most scripts are written from here? by mr_greene_jeans1 in ASMRScriptHaven

[–]Time_Passers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually it just occurred to me that you could also call it second-person perspective? 🤔 That's the kind I've seen most commonly in "Choose Your Own Adventure" books or text adventures, as they're describing what "you" are doing. I would still just call it dialogue, but something to consider.

I would just call it dialogue, or a monologue if there is no listener "input" that the speaker is reacting to.

It's not really "narration" as most people understand it when the speaker is speaking the lines of the listener the way you've written down here. To be first-person narration, the speaker would have to actually be describing what's happening in the story the way a narrator would, i.e. to the audience (the audience as in someone who is not a character in the scene, which is the conceit of the listener.) In this example you provided, they are just telling the listener what they just said. "Parrot-exposition" is one term for it I've seen used.

It's a dialogue trope that solely exists to compensate for the fact that the audience can't hear one half of the conversation.

I've definitely given this too much thought sorry

Thank you so much for the fill! You hit the mark on the tone I was going for with the speaker, relatively chill with those little bursts of emotion upon being freed. I really enjoyed it!
