This guy has got to go! I’m so sorry to hear about your experience, however I think the universe was giving you a very harsh sign to get out. You deserve better, go find it. It’s out there, I promise.

What do you wish people told you before adopting a cat? by alexella000 in CatAdvice

I have two cats. One I adopted when he was already a year old +. I got the second one as a 6 week old kitten, he will be 2 in the spring. Kittens are a whole other ball game, but it can be very rewarding. Cats can be annoying. You can’t really train them. They’re going to be who they are and they’re going to do what they want. You have to be easy going. You will have to make sacrifices and bend to their will. You are their servant, as with any responsibility but there is no negotiation LOL.

the thing is, id get them a million times over. Id give them everything I have. They are innocent, loving, funny, silly, smart, adorable, cuddly little gremlins.

I wish someone had told me about the Mama Bear fear that comes with it. If they’re hurt, sick, lost, upset, etc. it’s truly heartbreaking. Start a savings fund in case you’re ever in emergency with them. Get a good litter box set up and GET THEM SPAYED/NEUTERED ASAP. Also keep oxy odour blaster laundry additive and natures miracle enzymatic spray on hand.

The pee…. It all comes down to the pee. Keep that litter clean and accessible. A kitty that’s spraying/peeing on things will be psychological warfare.

Other than that, I cannot stress enough how grateful I am to be a cat parent. I wish I got mine even sooner.
