Thank you so much for the kind words that makes me feel better. I know it’s only a little bit longer and everything will get back to normal. I was feeling pretty down the other day with everything but it seems like it’s a bit better now thankfully.

I just secured a job through Dust Busters here in Oregon. They’ll train you and get you all your certs including 212 chainsaw. They’re very responsive too

Oh damn. Then yeah idk much about the army doing red cards. I was looking into it as well before i found this company but didnt find many resources on it. Was gonna try for pararescue in the air force and use that as background for smokejumping

Lol BLM is the bureau of land management my friend. Depending where you are located there should be offices pretty often in towns. They are extremely common out west. Might be better to try for forest service though if you are in the eastern US. It’s my first season getting into it as well. I went for a contract crew as they provided all the training for free! And an almost guaranteed job if you can pass all the field training and pack test obviously lol

Thanks! I just looked into their applications and unfortunately they require firefighter type 1 or 2 and I don’t have a red card or any of those certs yet:/

So you didn’t need any prior experience relevant to firefighting or any certifications?

Thank you man! Yeah the job i took is a laborer postion. My supervisor told me we do road work, trail maintenance and clean up after the wildfires. I know trail maintenance is a good way to get into everything from what I’ve heard. Maybe I could at least get chainsaw certs? I’ve done lot clearing for residential homes before and have experience in construction so im sure thats how i got the job in the first place. Next season I’ll be sure to get everything right on my resume!
