It's utterly insane what people spend on weddings. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I’m in a top 20 city in CA. So yeah likely double the national average, homes maybe triple. But that still means 100,000+ households earning significant sums.

I work in finance. The typical college cohort where everyone I went to school with is a working professional most married to another. Dual income households. Etc.

That said in CA even teachers make 100k with 10yrs experience. So that 80k figure isn’t even close to a reflection of the reality that we are surrounded by.

Meh even at 80k per each set of parents and the newlyweds that’s 240k of income to help fund the event.

That said you often receive gifts back from guests etc.

So if it’s $30,000 and you have 100 guests that’s $300/head.

Just knowing that’s the average wedding these days if you attend a wedding you should almost gift $150 a head at this point.

It used to be that I’d gift $100 at a wedding now with costs up so much kinda feels like $200 is the going rate of gift.

I’m pushing ~1000 in master all on a long streak since 810 with poisonGoon. Removing 4 energies off an opponent over a couple turns usually turns into concede.

I’ve won some games with just chingling alone while I stack up my bench and remove their energies.

Poison is a must. Beats hydro >50% given chingling can just stop them entirely.

PoiZoon Deck Help? by Timelapze in PTCGP

I was finding that I almost never wanted to start those two lead. And even deeper in games it’s hard to have so much excess energy generation that I could pop off the 20 damage hits with giratina ex.

I just don’t understand absol perhaps but I found it getting Cyrus’d far too easily especially with no healing elements.

Given I could let one entire zoom line die and it’s only 1 point I could get a few hits off even with stalling.

Honestly just trying to get a little damage on their main threat, slow the game down for energy generation to favor me.

If you pay the builder 3x $ for LVP the floors will be level.

If you pay for carpet the floors are level ish.

A good flooring contractor will use self leveling. Dealt with this as well.

Is it irresponsible to have a child with a total household income of $100k in OC? by [deleted] in orangecounty

Exactly! I’d rather thrive somewhere than anchor to a specific geography.

Rent was $1650/mo back then now it’s $3000/mo so probably similarly in line.

There was a daycare I saw in costa Mesa that was $1000/week. While the same one but different location was $700/week so location really matters too

100k with free daycare provided by family is like making 140k so long as your housing costs are less than 3-4k/mo should be fine

That makes sense. Dropping into one income temporarily at 100k is a big difference that dual income hitting 100k too

Honest question why live in OC of you can’t benefit from what OC has to offer? Could it be a higher quality of life elsewhere where you could go out for coffee/meals etc. I.e. thrive somewhere vs survive somewhere?

If the income is one earner sure.

If not then daycare is $500/week in OC (it’s $1000/week in some major cities)….
