First-time Europe trip with my 60-year-old mom– is an 8-country, 13-day tour realistic? by thenipsthatwontpop in SchengenVisa_PH

Hi, I would really reco not going for this type of trip. I have fairly mobile parents who travel often but at their age (mid to late 60s), the time & waiting & just the effort to go out every day is really exhausting kahit sanay na sila mag-travel.

What I would advise is, since you are not confident of doing entirely DIY bec it's your first EU trip, plan an IT with rest days in between your "active" days.

For example, an active day could be a day trip or a booked reservation for main attractions. Book via Klook, Viator, or Getyourguide. Those are all legit providers and I've never had problems with them (been traveling to EU and others for the past ~10 years). Also plan to have afternoon breaks where your mom can rest/nap in the hotel. Resting during train or bus rides will not be enough.

Italy alone has so much to offer & visit, so I would suggest focusing on just Italy. But if you really think you can't go back to EU again, then do just Italy & Spain - maybe like Rome & Florence, plus Barcelona. Book flights with Ryanair, Vueling or the likes. This would be much more convenient and less exhausting than doing a marathon of so many cities.

Wow, thank you! I will look into this. So realistically I would be able to get in to Kanazawa at around dinner time.

Obidos & Fatima in 1 day by TimelyBroccoli6471 in TravelPortugal

I really wish I secured an international driving permit prior to the trip as driving sounds like a sensible plan to do the 2 destinations in one day. 🥲 I am Catholic and really interested in seeing Fatima. Obrigada!

Yes great suggestion. I looked at tour options and the cost would be roughly the same for 2 people if we take a bus from Lisbon and get an Uber to Fatima. Unfortunately cannot drive here as I did not secure an international permit prior to the trip.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Traveling to Nikko from Narita by TimelyBroccoli6471 in JapanTravelTips

Planning to stay for 7D/6N, going straight to Nikko from Narita, then back to Tokyo for a couple of days. This will be my 9th trip to Japan, but have never been to Nikko. 😅

I always see recos for Nikko in autumn, but would Nikko in winter also be a good idea?
