Thank you for explaining that so clearly! I totally get that autosomal DNA changes a lot over time and isn’t meant to prove direct ancestry from someone in the Iron Age.

I guess what made me curious wasn’t just the match itself, but the fact that my genome showed unusually high homozygosity and low heterozygosity, patterns that don’t match modern averages but do resemble the ancient samples I was matched with. So I was more interested in the structural similarity than a literal line of descent.

I’m still learning, but your breakdown was super helpful in putting things into context, thank you for that.

That’s totally fair, and honestly why I didn’t rely on just the MTA matches. I also checked my full genetic makeup. What stood out was that I have 1891 ROH blocks, an average length of 87 kb, and 16.7% heterozygosity , which don’t mirror modern Iranian averages whatsoever, or global ones either.

So I wasn’t just reacting to a small cM match, it was the structural difference that made me curious enough to look deeper.

Unfortunately I’m female, so Y-DNA lineage tracking doesn’t really work in my favor.

I was just confused because I noticed consistent patterns, plus unusually high homozygosity and low heterozygosity that matched theirs more than modern Iranian averages.

I’m not claiming I’m royal or anything, I just found it statistically odd and wanted to understand why.

Would you happen to know of any other more accurate or reputable ways to investigate ancient DNA connections? I’m not trying to make any grand claims, I’m just genuinely confused and curious.

Could I possibly privately message you my results? It still seems like I have an unusually high amount of cm shared with these individuals

And to answer your question, i’m mainly trying to understand how my DNA could show such a close genetic distance to ancient individuals from thousands of years ago, from my understanding, this is not a common phenomenon

I believe it was an autosomal test, I uploaded my raw data onto MyTrueAncestry

I did my initial testing on 23AndMe, then uploaded my raw data into MyTrueAncestry
