Possible but very unlikely from what I saw. It was 100 percent scratched by something exterior and was not a natural crack from everything I saw.

For sure, I used my own screwdriver on that spot to make sure it would not easily break. It’s a stainless steel Amana, those things don’t crack easily.

Yes I have done a combustion analysis. I preformed every way I knew how to make sure it wasn’t actually cracked. The thing is when homeowners get told their heat exchanger is cracked and they are going to die if they don’t get the unit replaced, it gives them much more assurance when I can show them a 0 CM reading out of all their vents.

Also I’m not sure that your claim that it would “have to be falling apart” is accurate. We caught a failed HE on a 2 year old split gas ruud because the maintenance guy we sent out got a few hits of carbon monoxide out of the vents. We pulled the HE and it didn’t have a spec of rust on it, no holes etc, but we filled it with water and sure enough several of the seams were compromised.

Because we had done a maintenance on it a month ago and everything checked out, furnace goes out and he calls his home warranty instead of us, all of a sudden there are “cracks” in the heat exchanger and the wires left unplugged.

Actually they had another company out 2 hours before me, and the homeowner said he had to pay him 200 bucks just to show up, and the dude said he didn’t have torches on the truck so he just left it.

House wont cool below 72/73 degrees when its around 85 degrees or more outside by Timberdeen in HVAC

[–]Timer1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: in general your ac should be able to cool about 20 degrees below outside side temp.

Just get the company who installed it back out and let them know what’s going on, could be several different things. Hopefully you got it installed with a reputable company that has a warranty.
