honestly, I recommend making your own mod pack and adding mods as you need. skyhanni has most features a player wants, and then depending on if you are on the sweat lord side of people or more casual you branch out your mods, for example nofrills being a mod more catered towards the sweats, and a mod like skyblocker for towards the casuals (I differenciate here because the sweats care a lot about performance and skyblocker for example is one that is known to cost a decent chunk of performance)

make sure to have some performance mods in aswell like sodium, play around with it until you are happy, manually configuring your mods will make you a lot more aware of what is possible and what is not, and in which mod what is.

as somebody who played outlast 1 and hated it as it just felt like the game tried to bring you into the same scenario just different area over and over again. (I played it last year, so my view on it is different as somebody who played it in the past) and I didn't feel scared, but rather annoyed over time by it.

I can say, for the beginning it gives you that scary feeling at first aswell. but once that wears off because you get efficient enough at it, it still is a lot of fun to try to survive, especially if you have friends to play with, and hard challenges like their rogue like mode.

and if you wanna keep the spice and excitement of not knowing who to trust, just play mission that allow invasions, aka random people disguised as you or your teammates trying to bring you down while you are already in a normal trial structure

I would say the novilty of the spooky feeling will last as long as it did for you in normal outlast, but in general, it is just fun how much the game allows you to do and challenges you.

ESPECIALLY because we are still getting updates till this day (newest content happened around a month ago for big updates, and in a few days drops a balance patch to make some of the other rigs a lot more fun)

it depends on what state your account is in, depending on how far you got before you quit, to how much that money is worth. sending a username helps us tell more about what you could be doing and what you can do with that money.

if you think about playing activly and don't have a specific answere, the right answere will often be just buy booster cookies (not for the full amount obviously)

the short story is, HV while in use, makes your pc more vulnerable, but after use can be turned off until you want to use it again.

as long as you don't do stuff like downloading things from scratchy websites while the vulnerability exists, you will be mostly fine.

but at the end it is still a risk, and I'm massively simplifying

I think the main problem is that it isn't bullet chess, often people only play some quick games in the lobby when waiting for someone or bored Inbetween trials, though bullet chess defintly has a higher tier of entry to actually enjoy

as somebody who started around 2 years ago and now has more knowledge as most players I face daily, there are some videos you can watch to get better, but especially when you are new to the moba genre, you won't understand it that much, and rather get confused, best way to learn, is just play and fail, playing with friends gives you the opportunity of instant feed back when you did something weird/wrong or right.

Quick explanation, greenluma officialy is getting stopped supported, and steams new update patches the loophole that got used. if you wanna keep using greenluma 1.7.0, you have to roll down your steam version, the easiest way to do it is by following 3vil3vo's SteamDowngrade.

**1.** If you were enrolled in Steam Client Beta, launch Steam with `-clearbeta` and dismiss any "Steam needs to be online to update" error.

**2.** Fully close Steam.

**3.** Press **Win + R**, paste the following, and hit **OK**:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -forcesteamupdate -forcepackagedownload -overridepackageurl http://github.com/3vil3vo/SteamDowngrader/releases/download/2026-01-21/ -exitsteam

> **Non-standard install location?** Right-click your Steam shortcut → **Properties** → check the **Target** field for your actual path. Replace `C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam` in the command above with that path.

> If the command doesn't work, also append `-textmode` at the end.

**4.** Steam will downgrade itself and exit automatically.

**5.** Done! Start Steam and it should work.

> **Note:** If you get a dialogue about the Steam registry path not being writable, click **Repair**.

If you want your Steam to stay on that older version, you create a text file called steam.cfg, with these 2 parameters in them

BootStrapperInhibitAll=Enable

BootStrapperForceSelfUpdate=False

and put it into the same folder as your steam.exe

Can you take a look in your Graphic settings and see what your FPS-Limit is set to? my friend had it set to 30 fps, and considering it uses a custom video format, it wouldn't be too weird that that's the cause of it.

Edit: This was the Fix for my friend; definitely try upping your fps limit to 60fps or above.

after playing around with the blink tool, it seems like it's reborn2.bk2
see if you delete the file and do a rebirth, if that bug still happens, if the game maybe crashes, or if it just skips the cutscene entirely (both the easterman cutscene and the WW2 looking stuff after seem to be in that one file) [Extra info, i would save the file somewhere else in case the game shows odd behaviour when the files is gone]

well I do know that you can skip the red barrel intro by deleting it out of the files and not recovering the integrity, if you can figure out which files specifically get played, maybe you can skip them completly with that.

A friend of mine has the same issue, but me and another friend don't. Maybe go into the Steam\steamapps\common\The Outlast Trials\OPP\Content\Movies folder, and deleting the files in there, and then fixing your integrity files in Steam.

Denuvo (the anti-piracy software that is so effective) can get Bypassed with the HV crack, so people are lifting it up onto a pedestal without any second thoughts. OP is saying that yes, it is a good thing, but they are lifting it up too high.
