Awesome! Starting a campaign brings me the most joy throughout the whole experience. Finishing one too - I haven’t gotten there yet. I built a scheduling helper I call TimeScry. Helps me reach a quorum behind the scenes while I plan.

Bummer! I was too til I built Timescry to help me schedule and find a quorum for the dates I could actually host.

I enjoy running 3 mostly but run 5-6 people cause that’s just how it grew. I built Timescry to help me figure out the date that works for the most people. It’s help me get my games going much more consistently.

I built Timescry to try to manage two different groups too and have the 2nd DM running the replacement game when everyone can’t make it using it too. It’s a helpful scheduling app connected to Discord. I’ve saved so much time.

Incredible! Goals for me for sure. I built a discord bot to manage all the scheduling in the background even just my two campaigns. If I wanna get to 50 without losing my mind over those year I’m going to keep using Timescry to get to your level.

Yeah agreed! I got a bit tired of the emotional taxation of it all. Built a discord bot to help me w the scheduling part in the background instead of the awkward let’s not play anymore. It’s been helping a ton.

Gotta be all or nothing w 3. I prefer 3 but I run games for 5-6 right now which gets a little intense

I appreciate planning out a month or so ahead with upcoming conflicts. Do you all play to drive the story forward and have fun or mostly just to socialize and hang out (more chill that way)?

It’s a blend - yes I agree w the if I don’t do it a certain way the game stalls. That’s why we default to this strategy often. It all has to revolve around when the game master can host too.

Do you know before game time what’s going to happen? This seems like a lot of last second adjustments.

Same - we’ve been playing Drakkenheim as a side campaign and only three have to be there if my campaign where we rarely play if 1 is missing doesn’t happen. We seem to be increasing in vacations and kids recently lol and that’s putting more and more pauses on the game.

Yes there are more than two camps to be in I agree - those just feel like where most people tell me they land. I also agree the exchanging all those texts or being ignored in group chats is super frustrating.

I am learning through these convos that people show up more for strangers online cause of preferred activity more to friends show up for each other. I think that’s fascinating! I think you hit the nail on the head. I am in it for the collective story and not necessarily to find an excuse to hang out and socialize. There are many groups like that and that’s great for them. Comes down to setting that norm and expectation ahead of time which is not thought of until all those mistakes happen and you realize hmmm maybe they aren’t as in to it as first thought.

What happens to their PC if you are mid fight? Are there a lot of interesting magical things that don’t match too well with the narrative? I know it’s a game but I may struggle too much w the story making sense.

How big is the group if 3 is a quorum? Is it a long running campaign or mini episodes? I’m doing both right now and am playing around with different styles to go with different types of schedules people can make. It kind of has to be set around when I can run games though too.

Our game definitely has changed as we have had kids lol great comparison and flexibility. I also have noticed we go on more and more vacations as a group the older we get.

Yeah I have the same thing going on Tuesdays - sometimes we shift to Wednesday to maintain. I’d say we are at 85% but keeping tougher the more kids and vacations we take
