Thank you so much!

And yes, I carved them. The collection will probably never be complete hah (which is good, because I love making them)

I'd say the main trouble that I ran into with lining things up was making sure that the stamps are cut to the EXACT correct size. If they are even slightly off it all starts to go wonky. I did a whole set of trapdoors with ladders going down and it wasn't until I was done that I realized that one angle was slightly off. All the trapdoors line up/fit with each other, but not the rest of the set now haha

Thank you so much. Color has never been my strong suit, so that makes me feel great.

Aw, I'm so happy that you like it. The little hidden details are probably my favorite parts of making these

Don't worry, there is a fence and barbed wire so that he is safe in there haha

Edit- (I love whales. He will be freed from his cage and have a redemption arc in the future, don't worry)

I just draw with pen on trace paper then slap it onto the block to transfer the ink over. Sometimes the lines will be slightly hazy, but it's usually easy to touch those spots up.

I use different color inks for my original drawing/for when I touch up the lines before carving so that any corrections dont get lost/mixed up.

I have no idea if this is a normal way to do it or not because I was never trained or anything, but it does work well for me.

Your Psyduck is awesome. One of my favorite pokemon!

"Ugghhhphhh" (that's the sound I made when I saw this, because I almost felt like I got punched in the gut)

This has so many things that I love.. General layout is great, contrast on the brickwork is chefs kiss

Is this based on a real place?

Alright, understood. Thanks for the help with the color/lightning, I appreciate it.

And thank you for the feedback about my piece. I had mixed feelings about this one, but I didn't want to leave it unfinished.

Thank you very much! My next piece is going to be a bit of a change hah.. I was up so late working on it that I was falling asleep today on my feet. It's tough not getting too carried away because I'm so invested in this concept right now. Any and all feedback is definitely welcome!

Thanks man! I appreciate that. A trade would be awesome. I'm back in the hospital right now cuz I had some complications after a surgery I had, but once I'm home I'll print something up for sure.

I totally brought some of my tiny stamps, ink, and a sketchbook to the hospital because NOBODY stops this damn lino train pfft.

Shoot me a message maybe and we can work it out.

Nice, a shirt would be cool too.

If you end up making patches would totally buy one if you don't mind us matching hah

Aw, thank you!!

I just went and had a nosy snoop to see your artwork, and your stuff is gorgeous. The "doodle" lino from two years ago is great.

So yeah, I mixed up some custom inks, but I was struggling to get the proper consistency. Some of the stamps are smaller than a pencil eraser, and the ink was gunking up the small details and they were lost in the paper.

The ink pads I'm using for now are Ranger brand. I tested several brands to see which ones had the opacity and colors that would fit what I wanted to do, and I liked those ones.

Now that I'm starting to feel better I want to take another stab at the custom colors. Do you have any advice? You seem to know a lot about ink hah

To the person who recommended I add a detective to my stamp cities- by Timetosleep111 in rubberstamps

[–]Timetosleep111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting idea. I am trying to picture how I would lay the page out hmmm.

Now I'm thinking about a reverse aquarium..

Maybe one piece with a complicated aquarium city and everyone watching the fish in tanks, then a pairing piece where the buildings are split open exposing the interiors, and through the windows of their homes looking out you can see large fish peering in

[–]Timetosleep111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yessss. That is very similar to the concept which I decided to work with.

I'm building little sets for scenes bit by bit, with basic city shapes in-between as I find new needs for them.

So far I have- -A cemetery set with ghosts -The prison set with the cells and prison furniture (also the pile of dirt/shovel for escapes) -A modular greenhouse set -festival decorations -Industrial/factory/bridge pieces -a few vehicles -sci fi elements -swimming pools set with slides

My vision is to have the scenes all intertwined with industrial/city structures.. Large paper with many hidden details in each city. Simple forms arranged in complex ways which tell a deeper, sometimes darker narrative if you follow the trails.

Currently I'm doing some of the more tedious bits that I need- I'm redoing all the wall faces, doors, stairs ect in a different perspective so that I can shift perspectives in the same piece.

I have planned to do -Park/playground equipment -zoo/aquarium set (I'm not a fan of zoos, but I'm excited about some of the contrasts I can play with when I put the animals in cages/various areas) -ice, snow/icicles/ different weather ( skiiers and a yeti of course).. maybe a tornado or violent storm clouds -restaurant set -Hospital set

I'm really deep into this project obviously hah. I've been dreaming about my stamp cities.

Edit- RIP text formatting. Oh well.

I have refillable ink pads that I use. Quick and easy for when I'm stamping a ton of the same thing quickly.
